Title: New Z bars Post by jendesigner on 07/06/04 at 11:27:09 If you want to see what z bars look like on a Savage copy and paste the link below (hopefully this will work). They have a 6 inch rise with a 8 inch, 45 degree pull back. They are great!! they are narrower than my cafe bars but for my style of riding they work very well. The mirrors I added are vintage 1950 chopper mirrors. Work well with the bars. http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/jendesigner/album?.tok=pherjNBB6Zmni94S&.dir=/4fb4&.src=ph |

Title: Re: New Z bars Post by gitarzan on 07/06/04 at 17:39:27 Looks great! How's handling? Not twitchy? I thought about doing that with a set of clubman's. Flip them over like this: http://cyclexchange.net/index%20pics/clubmans.jpg Handlebars are a great inexpensive mod and can make a big diff in the character of the bike as well as looks. I've some superwide cruiser bars on mine now and they are comfy on the long ride but in town and zigzagging around corners, I find them to be almost too wide to countersteer well, and that the leverage of the wide bars makes it a little swoopy around tight turns. |
Title: Re: New Z bars Post by jendesigner on 07/07/04 at 06:22:18 First the tank divider is from JC Whitney. And with the bars I had to take alittle while to get used to the difference. A couple of miles and they felt natural again. I felt I could corner a bit faster with the cafe style bar but I think it's just a matter of adjustment. I stretch all the way back on the seat with my legs almost straight on the forward controls and these bars have a better pull back for me. The clubmans look very interesting. I have seen them mounted upside down like a cafe racer and that was cool. It's just fun to try different things. |

Title: Re: New Z bars Post by jendesigner on 07/09/04 at 06:02:57 They are Highway Hawk controls from Seegercycle.com. They carry two brands, this one was in stock and cheaper (still expensive, but worth it to me). There is one mod that was done to help the back brake be more efficient. If you go this route I can give you the email address to the person who told me about the part. |
