Title: Anyone went with the chopper look? Post by motorhead on 07/20/04 at 09:41:57 Hello I have been looking into the savage and modifications that can be done it. I came across a company, seeger cycles I believe, they offer a bolt on fork kit but once I came across the below link, I began to wonder if other savage owners have stretched the bike using this method, seems a lot more cost effective. Cutting and welding doesn't bother me. The link does have a pic of a savage that has done this, by chance, would someone that frequents this board be the owner of that motorcycle? http://www.cb750choppers.com/cb750/chop.html Thanks |

Well, the Savage is a little bit on the forks-forward side. It's definitely tips it's hat to rakish chopper visual lines. |

Okay.... Where did you get the battery box? I like. It also works with your K&N filter well. Is that a Raask pipe? Why is it discolored? I like the head light mount too. Looking good 8) |

Title: Re: Anyone went with the chopper look? Post by Greg_650 on 07/27/04 at 13:58:04 My notifications never have worked ::) Would you need to boost the compression ratio with a turbo? Or is that unnecessary....? |

I thought for sure I received one or two notifications, possibly because I checked the box when I responded. Who knows? What is the compression ratio of the savage stock? I can tell you what is desirable in an automobile, :), but I am not sure how these air cooled engines react to boost, my guess is you would want the compression ratio 8:1 possibly lower to keep the heat down, boost healthy and octane low for street use but thats a guess. later |

Title: Re: Anyone went with the chopper look? Post by Greg_650 on 07/28/04 at 02:47:47 I guess that a turbo boosts the "compression ratio" by its application, so that low is desireable. The Savage is a low 8.5 to 1 ratio. |

Title: Re: Anyone went with the chopper look? Post by klx650sm2002 on 07/28/04 at 06:08:34 Up to about 4psi boost stock C.R. is ok above that you must reduce C.R.. Singles are very difficult to turbo, such a long time between inlet strokes and between exhaust strokes. The turbine/impeller revs rise and fall dramatically, unlike a inline four. Clive W |

Title: Re: Anyone went with the chopper look? Post by Greg_650 on 07/28/04 at 08:45:18 Yep. Unlike a twin that might intake while the other exhausts. Wonder how they do it on a Harley with the 2 45 degree intake pulses.... |
