Title: Can I get your weight and height? Post by motorhead on 07/20/04 at 09:50:19 Sorry don't wanna get too personal... ;D...I would just like to know others height, weight and how they feel about the savage after owning it a while, something to the effect of, wish I had went with more cc, v-twin, or I will be satisfied for some time to come. Maybe it'll help me determine if it would be right for me. Thanks I would like to mention, if this has come up before, please be patient. I have done a search but ended up with many different posts that didn't apply. I used the word "tall" for the search and ended up with install and other words containing "tall". Tried to search by a phrase and nothing came up period, so figured it best to ask directly, thanks again |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by cphilip on 07/20/04 at 10:11:09 I Five foot six and weigh in at about 170. Still happy with 650cc. Not anything out there thats V twin in a 650 thats going to be an advantage. Yamaha and Honda's twin 650's all weigh 200 pounds more per bike that the Savage does. Its all weight to HP ratio. Yamaha does have a shaft drive but Honda is still sticking to chain on its 650 Twin inline. So really the Savage gets up and goes as good and perhaps better than the competition that weighs considerably more. Now if you are fairly large and if you plan two up riding a lot and your both fairly large then maybe you want to think 800 or 850 and on up. But if your say under 6 foot 2 and under 250 pounds and single riding the slimness and lightness of the Savage makes it a better handling bike. |

It's impossible to find another bike that has as much torque and weighs as little as the LS. I've owned bigger V-twins and fours and do not miss them at all. I also have a tremendous amount of fun riding 250's. It just depends what motorcycling means to you, but less can be a lot more. |

Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by Kropatchek on 07/20/04 at 10:59:27 I'm 172 and weight around 72 kg. 8) I love the power and torque of the Savage . Improvements: The seat >:(but I'm working on that. :D |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by sunny on 07/20/04 at 11:07:13 5'1" - 130 pounds. i chose the savage soley because it was the only one i felt comfortable sitting on. while seated my feet completely touch the floor flat footed with my knees slightly bent. it also seemed to have a lower center of gravity which was important to me as it is my very first bike. i am a bit clumsy on my feet and stability is a major issue with anything i choose. i love it. and i will be happy with it for quite awhile, i believe. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by Greg_650 on 07/20/04 at 12:02:30 Okay..... I've had 12 bikes in my 38 years of riding. My last bike before this 2000 Savage was a Yamaha 850 triple. Years ago I had 2 stroke enduros with far more horsepower than the Savage. But anyway, I've had this Savage for over 4 years now.....and to answer your question, since it appears that I'm the heavy weight entry so far.... ....5' 9" and 220 lbs.... 8) |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by Autif on 07/20/04 at 12:21:44 145#, 5-10, and love the handling. |

Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by PRH111 on 07/20/04 at 13:59:14 5'11" 175-177lbs. I feel slightly cramped...forward controls would probably do nicely for me but since I don't really ride for more than a few hours a day it hasn't been an issue so far. It has enough power on the highway and pulls away from every stoplight effortlessly for me. (60-80 at WOT goes by really fast on a flat stretch so passing is no problem here since the speed limit is 60 even if most people do 70). [edit]- had no problem with a passenger the other day either (she was only around 100lbs). It didn't feel under powered for the city riding (below 45mph) we did. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by Savage_Rob on 07/20/04 at 14:19:42 I'm 5' 9" and 190 lbs. I've only had mine for 10 days but I feel comfortable on it. I may consider forward controls for it someday but it's certainly not a priority. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by savagethumper on 07/20/04 at 20:14:50 5' 10" ---190 pounds. Really enjoy the Savage, and I haven't really felt the need for more power, but I mainly ride alone. I've only ridden with my wife twice. Really, really, enjoy the narrowness (is that a word?). It's fun to throw into windy roads. CPhilip has a point when he says that other bikes are heavier. My riding buddy had a 600cc Shadow Twin, and it weighed quite a bit more, and it didn't run any better. And the Savage is the best for the money, too. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by gitarzan on 07/20/04 at 20:40:17 5'11 240 lbs and a 30" inseam. If the seat was moved back about 2-3" it would be perfect. Around town it's just fine, but on the road, my fanny gets a bit callused. On the freeway I wish it had a sixth gear or at least a little more go-go, but in the city, it's fine and can haul arse around just fine. |

I'm down to 170# today. We might as well plug both groups, eh. ;-) http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/CB250_Nighthawk http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/ViragoOwnersclub2-50 |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by maria on 07/21/04 at 00:50:45 i am four foot and eight inches, weigh 10 stone - 140 lbs. only trouble i have is small hands and the handlebars are a little too big in diameter an dmy feet are too short to reach the brake pedal when my foot is on the rest. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by PerrydaSavage on 07/21/04 at 02:19:39 I am 5'-4 1/2" height, 122lbs with 29" inseam and the Savage fits me perfectly ... love the Bike, but my lack of height makes fitting a deflector style windshield a problem ... installed a new Roadchrome M200 last night, but it is too tall (or I am too short ...) cannot look over the shield and looking thru it has too much glare for safety ... will bring back to the dealer for refund today. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by Chench53 on 07/21/04 at 02:45:39 I am just 5'0" and 118 lbs. Excellent flat footing with knees slightly bent. PerrydaSavage wrote:

Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by MacLobo on 07/21/04 at 03:45:08 I'm 5-11, 225 lbs. My son is 5-11 195 lbs. We rode 2 up for about 80 miles. No problems keeping up with or ahead of traffic, or passing on busy 2 lane hiways. Rear seat is NOT made for comfort, but I survived. The fun factor exceeded the discomfort. I am a little tall for the windshield. My head is buffeted around by the slipstream over the top of the windshield. Works great if I hunch down slightly |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by koiroy on 07/21/04 at 04:41:40 :o I'm 5'11" 210lbs. Its great for me as it is for most of the others in this post. Someday I want to tour on something larger. My wife comes with me once in a while and the seats are not comfortable for any length of time but for now its a great ride and a great fuel saver over my Dodge Ram V-8 truck. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by motorhead on 07/21/04 at 04:52:45 Well, I was trying to determine if height and weight played a role in owner satisfaction but if everyone seems to like their bike then that might be difficult to judge.:) Once again, appreciate the responses. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by PRH111 on 07/21/04 at 09:43:04 Perhaps you need an additional piece of data...ie: have any of the riders owned other bikes of a different size so that they have a frame of reference which the Savage can be compared against. My first bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan EN500. It was roughly the same seat hieght but about 75-80lbs heavier (and had better top end hp with the parallel twin). The Savage seems fine compared to my other bike and I prefer the lighter weight feel of it. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by klx650sm2002 on 07/21/04 at 10:52:29 I ride a KLX650C1 (323 dry) so this is probably isn't relevant but I'm 6ft 3" and 206lbs, used to be 262lbs. Clive W ;D |

Oh, but your KLX sits alot higher than a Savage too. Your long legs help. |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by Greg_650 on 07/21/04 at 14:35:24 I'm also glad that a few others "bellied" up to the handle bar and admitted they were in MY weight range too. 8) |
Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by sweet_insurgent on 07/21/04 at 17:18:08 5'2, 135lbs still my first bike (bought it in 1996) but never put too many miles on it (the first owner only put on 5k, straight bars and pipe in 10 years) and she's got only about 6500 miles now. I don't ride much because I feel like I can't take her on the freeway. I live in L.A. and that's pretty much suicide anyway, but even when there's not parking-lot-type traffic the vibration from the single cylinder causes numbness in my hands and feet, makes the side mirrors useless, and without windscreen I feel like I'll be pushed off. On surface streets, though, she's perfect. I can beat anyone off the line at a green light, and I imagine she corners pretty good, but I'm too chicken to take 'em faster than first gear. I was going to trade her in for a sport bike (Suzuki SV650 - coincidentally darn near the same name, is the shortest sport bike made with a seat height you can crank down to about 29-30 inches) but when I test rode one I felt like it would kill me - so much more responsive to throttle and gear changing than I'm used to. So I kept my lil ol Savage. Diagnosing a carb problem at the moment, but got the battery charged up (she sat all last year) so at least she'll start even if she wont STAY running. |

Title: Re: Can I get your weight and height? Post by Pat B on 08/02/04 at 06:38:27 5' 7" 200lbs It is my first bike, and I got it cause I can put my feet flat on the deck. I haven't ridden anything else, just sat on everything I could in all the area dealers’ showroom. |
