Title: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by savagethumper on 09/04/04 at 18:32:50 8) We all see pictures of each other's bikes. Let's see what the riders look like. You can tell I avoid the sun pretty well. http://bikepics.com/pictures/206363/ |
Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by bassman29 on 09/04/04 at 21:28:40 OK, I'm not shy. Here I am participating in two of my favorite activities: (G-rated) Number 1 (http://home.neb.rr.com/dmorris29/Pspecialatwork.jpg) and Number 2 (http://home.neb.rr.com/dmorris29/Suzy%20and%20Tomos%20with%20riders2.jpg) I have been doing Number 1 for over 30 years, Number 2 for 2 weeks - but I hope I will still be doing it 30 years from now. |

Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by drd1135 on 09/05/04 at 14:39:39 Hi. I'm Steve and I just joined this list. I'm a newbie rider and I've had my Savage fo 8 days. I found out this week that a coworker got his license in May, and also bought a Savage. This bike is having a pretty good run (86-04) and now is continuing on in the s40, so it obviously has a following. BTW, today was the first time I got it up to highway speeds. This is a big breakthroguh for me, becasue the road I live on connects at both ends to this highway. I was finally able to go to big parking lot and practice a bit. I found the bike handles pretty well at 55. |
Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by Bluejeanz on 09/05/04 at 14:44:57 I love the way my bike rides at 50-55. That's my average cruisin' speed on the roads around here. I've been up to 65, and that was fun too...right up until the moment I ran out of gas... :P Oh yeah, and this is the 8th day for my Savage as well! |

Looking really nice. One little hint, if I may....the fork bag will scratch your fender, but if you put some nice and neat little strips of electrical tape on the paint that will take care of it. About 3 strips, 4 inches long. Not the greatest, but you won't like the scratches either. |

Very cool... I haven't done it yet with the Savage but I scraped the pegs during my MSF test on the cornering skill. The instructor said he was sure I was going down. When I didn't he said it was the best executed turn he had seen in a long time! Felt good. Was fun. |

Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by za16866 on 09/09/04 at 11:26:07 susan... the grand canyon is really really beautiful... you can spend a whole day just riding around and checkin out the different viewpoints of the canyon... unfortunately the one thing that was left on the kitchen table that morning was the camera... ::) so i don't have any pic's to post... but... i can tell you that if you are into looking at fall foliage ,... i would guess that the 2nd weekend in october would be a great time to see the leaves change.. we are thinking about taking a day sometime in october and doing the trip again.....with a camera this time.... ;D while we were there monday.. the place was just rockin with motorcycles ... all over the place, passing them on the road, at the restaurants, gas stations, wherever you looked... there were people riding.. when we pulled into the parking lot to go to the overlook area,,.. there were no motorcycle parking areas that had open spaces left... there were 5 of us on the ride so we didn't have much trouble filling up 2 car spaces.. but.. you get the idea... bikes bikes and more bikes... woo hoo... :o here's a link to the pa visitors site... http://www.visittiogapa.com/grandcanyon.html check it out.. see what you think.... |

Lookin' good... Now if you want to post a link, but don't want to show the entire URL string, (or just want to personalize it) then you just need to insert an "=" sign and your link address between the first "URL' and its bracket. Then you can type a name for your link between the brackets that separate "URL" and "End URL".....its hard to show because if I type the code, it becomes hidden, so I'll improvise with different brackets. {url = http://my web page photos}My Pics{/url} and then all that will show is My Pics |

The mechanic at the dealership that I use for service tells me that I don't own the only Savage in town. He likes them because they are so easy to work on. He changed out my bent shift rod while I waited AND they put it down as warranty repair, I didn't even have to ask!!! Although I did have to pester them to order the part. |

Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by Max_Morley on 11/19/04 at 14:00:59 Well I was with Sluggo and took the picture. Grand Coulee Dam is in Eastern WA and holds back the mighty Columbia River at Lake Rooselvelt which generates lots of hydro power and is the start of the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. the CBIP provides irrigation water for thousands of acres of what used to be dessert in Central Eastern WA. State. End of answer to question. Rest of the story! We grow wheat (white and red, winter and summer) alfalfa hay, corn, sugar beets, potatoes, mint, carrots, onions, beans of all kinds, peas, fruit, wine grapes and lots of other crops and raise lots of cattle here. There are also more and more dairies moving over here as the wet West side of the state as it gets more crowded and smell and runoff in the rain becomes more of an issue. When you fly from Seattle to Spokane or from points East on that route most the green circles you see are the central pivot sprinkers that are considered the best way to irrigate now. Most started with rill irrigation, a head ditch and syphon tubes going to the rill or valley between the rows of crops, very labor intensive and good for families with lots of kids usually but not always male. IMHO a great place to live and retire, but my wifes family farms here so it was easy to move to. Lots of nice days, they claim 300 flying days a year, used to be Larson AFB -now an International Airport with Customs and Immigration Agent, Community College, Job Corps, big data storage in the old SAGE building, and lots of smaller commerical operations. If you see a blue Genie S-60 manlift it was built in an old B-52 Hanger here. JAL has a pilot training program here and flys 747's here daily. McChord AFB near Tacoma has C-17As in here 1-3 at a time teaching pilots how to fly them, including field lights out practice at night with NVG. Old AFB housing is mostly individually owned with some rentals and county housing. Good bird hunting and year round fishing in some of the lakes. Sand dunes for summer ATV, cycle, and dunde buggy recreation, a natural ampitheatre on the Columbia river (The Gorge at George), and lots of warm or hot summer recreation on the lakes before and after the dams. I'll bet this is more than you ever wanted to know about Eastern Wa. |
Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by Greg_650 on 11/20/04 at 04:01:37 Nope. Not too much information for me :o |
Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by gitarzan on 11/20/04 at 08:00:20 The Pacific NW is heaven as far as I am concerned. |
Title: Re: Saw the bike, now the rider Post by Greg_650 on 11/29/04 at 04:06:06 And I guess the Columbia River, which flows through Portland and Vancouver is the defining state line for Oregon and Washington. Big water, eh? I know which way it flows, but it's hard to get the big picture from a map. Can't wait. |
