Title: I've been wanting to dress upLED Lights
Post by slopoke on 12/17/04 at 13:57:05

I've been wanting to dress up my bike with some LED lights, but I'm not sure our 6v battery will handle the load, especially since I haven't been able to even find a louder horn that will work!  >:(

Does anyone have experience with LED lights on a Savage?

Thanks,
Slopoke

Ah.....  It's a 12 volt battery.  People run auxilary headlights on Savages, LEDs use next to no power.

For an inexpensive replacement horn, go to Discount Auto.  They have a Blaster (?) for about $19 thats about twice as loud as the stock bicycle horn.  It mounts with the same single mounting bolt but doesn't fit behind the stock chrome cover.  Since the horn is black, its not really that noticeable unless you're looking for it.  A big improvement for a few bucks.  As for the LED's, check out lifebrites.com.  I plan to buy a pair of them to mount with detachable plugs on my JC Whitney trunk so when I take the trunk off I can disconnect the LED's.  Hope this info helps.  Jim

on a different note.... I just ordered two of these LED rotating brake lamps. 1157 replacement types. The ones that rotate around clockwise until you hit the brake and then pulse like three full times before  staying full on while brake is applied. I going to check these out and see if they really are that noticable. I can use all the noticability I can get.

And a caution. If you want to check these out... check with your local Law Enforcement to be sure they are OK with it. Mine are. they all for safety and all that. Some may not be.

If these impress me I am going to search out some turn signal ambers in double and in single filament...that do not rotate... for use in the signal lenses/running lamps.
