okay ,... I started on my muffler .. here the deal, one of the harley muffle has the baffle in it and it sould just like the stock one, when I put it on the bike ? so I took the other harley muffler and gutted it out , not to sure about that .... has any one done this ???? stop at that ponit cuz I need to go get a harley clamp and need to make the bracket ... that not a prolem. but here the thang do you reseal the harley pile with sealed { looking for that }so it don't leak and did any one find a sheild to hide where the harley piple is clamp on ?????
okay m I doing this right ???

on the heat shield topic...JC Whitney has the ONLY shield I have found that will fit where you need it to. I tried to link directly to the product page, but that was no good. Look for the "Exhaust Heat Shield" on this page.

Won't it just being easi too just buy someting that is made for a Savage bik? I jus donot no why peopl want to get into all these hassles to made a non-Suzuki muffle fit there bike. Or is it jus me ???

Find me a Susuki or aftermarket designed for the Savage muffler/header/tailpipe that will give me the exhaust exit behind the rear wheel. Othewise I'll have to roll my own. I do not want the exhause dumping right below my saddlebag.

First of all - congratulations for the guts to start something on Your own !
The way I remember it- I just reused the Suzuki heat shield and hardware to hide everything. The cheapest place to find a bunch of different chrome HD accessories is eBay. I was even looking at somebody selling a pile of chrome shields and was I thinking on bidding, but You go ahead.
About the sealing the EX leak- 2 ways to go : the right way- buy the gasket from the dealer
: the poor man 's way- go in 99 c. store, buy a roll of sticky aluminum tape and wrap it around the header to the desired thickness. Put a little more than it seems necessary and drive the tail pipe with a piece of wood or with rubber mollet.When You take the bike for a ride there will be a smoke coming out of the new seal, because of the glue on the tape. The smoke will go away when the glue burns out.

Yes, there was a set of HD fishtail drag pipes on eBay, but this guy was asking $30 for shipping, so I just let somebody elce enjoy them.

Hey!!! If it's anything like my roll your own exhaust, it ought as well BE a skunkweed doobie...Hack Choke Gag. Leaks. Like a roll your own smoke. Wonder if aluminum tape fumes are as funky as scotch tape fumes ???

Hon, go to NAPA and get some exhaust putty. Pack the exposed seam at the connection. End of leak. Should cost a couple bucks.

I'll let you know how thang are going , I order the seal and will be in on wed. :-[ ... so I have to wait until then.
and the way my sheild is you can't put it on. but I will look on e-bay.
after the muffles I'll do the carb. !!!! ;D

I have a 1986 ls650 i want to straight pipe it! but i'am having a hard time finding the flange (s?) .any ideas? I like how you cleaned up the engin space

i took mu suzi and my hd muff to a muff shop he took his calipers and measured at the end of the head pipe flared (female)out a 1 3/4 pipe fot that end put a 10 degree bend and the outher end fits inde the hd muff..
been playing round with diff muffs a hd 80s model with disk punched is the sound i like the best but dont care for the back fire(dyno jet stage one) bought a shorty (open baffle)from jp was way too radical for my taste so
used a couple of quarters ,screws and nuts and fiber glass packin and fabed a plug in the center of the baffel re packed the baff with new glass , didnt care for the sound or the backfire..
now have a 90s model hd muff with disk intact has a lot better mount(slide rail and short carriage bolt not tab)
lines up with front stock mounting hole sounds alot better than stock and minimal backfire..
get harly muff clamps at hd dealer for me theyre $8 for new on e bay i found used for $ 10 and ended up stripping out the threads...hd has two styles the ones i got are shaped like a horse shoe the other hd clamp has a raised portion for a heat sheid i think..
perm a tex has hi temp goop and i cut a slot in the fm end of the adapter pipe with tin snips.and then used a 1 3/4 car muff clamp just to mold the pipe (slide the hd clamps on first out of the way) to the end of the head pipe..using a jc whitney sheild to hide the clamps...( car clamp removed after molding)
