Title: My new shorty pipe . . .
Post by RG on 03/31/05 at 14:11:11

I don't know how all of you feel about shorty pipes, but I love 'em.  I just did this to my bike last week.  I love it.

What did it cost?  About $6.  All I did was go down to Shucks and get a chrome exhaust tip.  It's obviously much louder now.  It's pretty harsh sounding but I'm okay with that.  I am working on a baffle, but haven't really figured anything out yet.  Please let me know what you guys think about how it looks.

Looks cool, I'd expect a loss low down and a gain higher up.
Let me know how it goes ?

Well, my bike hasn't been running too good lately anyway.  I've got a K&N on the way.  When it gets here I'll see how it runs, then probably re-jet.  I'll everyone know how it seems after that.

Your basically just running a header. I would remove the white spacer all together and start with a 155 main and move up from there. You may even have to swap out the pilot jet. keep us posted.

Hey RG

I've been thinking about Your pipe, it looks so short that it probably has a secondary resonance at about 3750rpm and a primary at 7500rpm.

RG, take the stubby to the local HD shop. There are universal drop in baffles, pretty inexpensive. Very little restriction. You know how pipes are checked around here? If it is a large bore pipe, if a nightstick can be stuck into the pipe, the pipe is illegal. The drop in baffle prevents that without impeding much of the exhaust flow. Of course, red rear turn signals are legal here, so are apehangers, reflector deletion, all kinds of oddball stuff.  ;D About the only thing positive I can say about western washington state, nice place to visit, but if I hadn't been born here...

It was a Jardine that I paid way too much for.  I paid about $190 from my local Suzuki stealership.  I've looked online and have seen it for much cheaper.

Yeah Frost, that's RGs scoot. Hope everything is alright. Maybe he's just going back to school and needs the money. When times are tough, toys get sacrificed. My hope is he's got another bike, and just doesn't need the Savage anymore...

I notice that RG doesn't mention his missing toolkit cover....

That kinda puts an end to this topic, doesn't it?
