Title: Nuts for Mutts Post by Paladin on 04/02/05 at 20:43:48 Off topic, other than it is why I won't have ride time tomorrow. I'm taking Pepper Anne (http://www.andruschak.net/image/pepperfrontlawn.jpg) to the Nuts for Mutts (http://www.nutsformutts.org/) fourth annual dog show. We have her entered in two classes -- Best Shepherd Mix is a judgement call, but most people who see her think she's gorgeous. That catagory is a toss, depending on the whims of the judges. Fastest Mutt is a sprint, judges have stopwatches. Last year's winner (http://www.nutsformutts.org/images/showphotos/fastestmutt.jpg) is chunky compared with Pepper (http://rcc.dyndns.org/PepperStanding.jpg). Pepper is, as far as we can figuge, a Shepherd-Whippet mix. She has the coloring of a german shepherd with the build of a stocky whippet. Once she paced me as I was riding the Savage at 25 mph. I have high hopes for this class. |

Title: Re: Nuts for Mutts Post by gitarzan on 04/03/05 at 10:50:42 That looks like a fun time and a great cause. I wish we had one here. I'm sure my dog Chauncey would enjoy it as much as I would. Not dogs, but here's the animal shelter that my wife and I support (in a small way, but we help a little). http://www.catwelfareohio.com/ |
Title: Re: Nuts for Mutts Post by Paladin on 04/03/05 at 18:02:53 They had prelims of about 30 entrants, pick 10 to go to the semi-finals. Pepper Anne qualified in both fastest and best shepherd mix. Didn't win, place, or show. MC was Deborah Wilson from Mad TV and the judges were all sorts of celebs, including the kid that plays Reese on Malcom in the Middle. But the high point of the day was when a world famous celebrity sat with her butt touching my thigh: http://www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/images/LadyHarley.jpg Yes, that is the one and only Lady Harley. |
