Some Savages have galling on the powdercoated "lubricant" on the carb slide. The oil lets it move more readily. 3. You have a sticking choke mechanism. It happens. 4. You have a bad sparkplug. Okay when the engine is cool, starts to short out as the engine gets hot. Could also be a loose plug wire at the plug or coil, vibrates loose. You'll get other respones, but the most common fuel problems are the vacuum line, the plug, or a sticky float. Good luck, Savage problems/quirks are almost always minor in nature, and cheap to fix. Congrats on the purchase, you'll have lots of fun with it. -WD Savage owner since Feb 1998, custom bike builder since 1987 |

How do you get it back from the 1/2 mile down the road? And how often do you do this? |
Title: Re: Bike cuts out Post by Ed_L. on 04/04/05 at 12:15:22 Sometimes the vent in the gas cap plugs up, try riding with the cap loose and see if it still cuts out. If you still have the problem try riding with the petc0ck in the prime position. If it runs ok in the prime position then it is the petc0ck. Change out the plug, no telling how long it has been in the bike. Luck, Ed L. |
