Title: What year where the fork shields started?
Post by rkutzner on 04/08/05 at 05:06:52

I am considering a Superbrace, but they only list it to 2003.  Where the Superbrace connects I currently have plastic factory fork shields (mine is a 2005 S40).  Was this new for 2004 or 2005?  I don't want to shell out the bucks for the Superbrace and then have it be effected by the groove in the upper part of the lower fork that is there for the fork shields to snap into (that is where the Superbrace connects).

Anyone have a Superbrace on an 05 yet?

Far as I know... it was new with the 40 series. That was the first one I saw it on.

I don't think Superbrace is aware of it yet, their first response was to say the correct part number was on their site.  I can spin my fork protectors, so they are obviously sitting in a groove.  I asked them back if they are aware of this.  My concern is the brace might not sit tight over that spot because of some groove there.  And I can't find out the details of the groove without cutting off the plastic protectors first.  I'm only willing to cut them off after they have a part SPECIFIC for this, cause you can't put them back on nicely.....and they DO keep the bugs off the first inch or two which definitely helps!

I'm pretty sure they were new in 2005. See this thread for what was new in 2004 and 2005: Savage Parts that Have Changed (http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=tech;action=display;num=1098969517;start=0#0)
