Title: no vacuum
Post by sunny on 04/15/05 at 07:32:58

ok. bike is running.
electrical problem fixed itself after disconnecting then reconnecting all the electrical connections.
i've ridden it about fifty miles with no problem.
last night it started coughing while running.

but now it only runs consistently with the petc0ck on prime.
checked, then replaced the vacuum line. still same problem.

also, how badly does the gas mileage go down while running on prime?

It won't change your mileage at all.  Prime is just an uncontrolled petc0ck position for maintenance, etc.  You won't be "getting" any more gas because of it....unless it leaks while being parked  ;D

ok then.
now i won't worry so much about running out of fuel on the way home.
:)

any clue about the vacuum though?
do i need to take the carb off again and clean it out?

To find out if the vacuum is okay...and avoid removing the carb...

Start the bike with the petc0ck in PRI position and remove the vacuum hose at the carb.  When you remove it, you may need to turn the idle speed up a bit to keep it from stalling, but while it is running put your finger on the vacuum connection on the carb.  You should feel the suction at the intake.

If you do feel a vacuum, then look to the hose and petc0ck to find the problem.

Good luck.
