Title: Tapping soound from engine.
Post by DangMan on 04/20/05 at 11:26:57

Yestoday when I was riding home from work i notised a sound fromthe engine (I think, kinda hard locating)
It only taps when the cluths is pulled (????) and the MCs rolling... like when im comming up to a red light ! Its not every time it does it. Its not
Has any ou you guys ever notised that.
It is depending on the speed to, the faster the MCs rolling, the faster it taps !

it's either the hamsters trying to get out. ;D
or if it's like mine the belt cliks on the front pulley when cold.

Sometimes, @ the frnt pulley - I pulled the pulley cover with the bike on a jack and rolled the rear tire and watched the pulley - it had a "place" where I can see the pulley jump a little on the shaft as it spins - haven't pulled it apart yet - and it stopped doing this after I took it out and ran the bike pretty hard - kind of cool the tach and speedometer run almost 1:1 in 3rd gear up to 60mph / 6krpm - anyway havent heard the tapping lately....

Okay, first let's eliminate the internal engine parts from the question.  If it only does it when rolling and gets faster or slower, then it is something to do with the drive system.

Now, does it do it at a rate that would correspond with the wheels turning and does it seem to come from the front or the rear?
