Title: Re: Pics from Pate Swap Meet Post by bentwheel on 04/30/05 at 11:34:19 Say, that silver El Camino style custom is trick. Especially since it is an Olds. |

That OldsCamino was very well done. I went over that car several times trying to find the welds where he grafted on the chevy parts. I found no hickies at all on the car. A very clean job. |
Title: Re: Pics from Pate Swap Meet Post by WD on 04/30/05 at 15:48:23 That's a fairly easy conversion. Find a clapped out El Camino, order replacement Cutlass sheetmetal from Year One. Cut the spotwelds on the Elco, graft on the Cutlass quarter panels. Add a re-pop or J/Y (junkyard) Cutlass nose, a handful of badges, and no one will be able to tell it isn't factory. They are based on the same platform, everything fits like factory parts. Have seen similar done to a 51 Merc 4 door. Very cool, wish I could have pinned the guy down on a price. I'd have loved to rescue and finish it. Needed some minor bodywork, an engine, transmission, and a radiator. -WD |
Title: Re: Pics from Pate Swap Meet Post by Red_Wine on 05/02/05 at 09:28:21 Eyecandy for me... ;D :o I loved the gray El Camino, the yellow SW at the back of the 1940's lineup, and what seemed to be a SW Bell Air correct me if I'm wrong... Wonder if I could make a few $$ sending you some of the old cars I have seen lying around the countryside... ::) RW |
Title: Re: Pics from Pate Swap Meet Post by WD on 05/03/05 at 00:03:39 Red, I'm looking for more Anglias, Prefects, Squires, Thames, etc. Got any of them floating around? Good excuse to get out of the country for awhile. 40s or 50s only. -WD |
Title: Re: Pics from Pate Swap Meet Post by Red_Wine on 05/03/05 at 06:18:58 WD, I have not seen many old bikes around, 50's and 60's were Vespa years here, maybe some British ones, but uncertain about it... I might need full descriptions, maybe I'll post an ad in the newspaper and see what happens... Let's keep in the loop... RW |
Title: Re: Pics from Pate Swap Meet Post by Paladin on 05/03/05 at 12:11:13 Not bikes, old English Fords: http://savage.andruschak.net/FTP/fords.jpg Aside: Detroit City Motor Officer John Liberty was a member of the Detroit Police Clown Troupe and had an Anglia in the late '50's early '60's that was made into a Clown Car -- Fumbles' Taxi. One Field Day we had 15 Detroit Police Clowns inside that little car (included one midget and three or four kids with 10 or 11 Police Officers.) |
Title: Re: Pics from Pate Swap Meet Post by WD on 05/03/05 at 21:16:48 Last one I played around with was a 55-57 Squire, two door wagon. 1974 Datsun B210 engine, trans, rear assembly, wheels. 1.4L block, head off a 1.2L Datsun. It was in the background of the movie Austin Powers 2. Belongs to my stepson, both he and the car are now in Elk Grove California, Sacramento area, I had to look it up on a map. I'd love to get my hands on another one. In my area there is one with a Ford 390 Police Interceptor V8, another, Hillman I think, with a Dodge 426 Max Wedge. Fun little junkheaps to play with, absolutely horrible as actual cars. -WD |
