Title: Avatars -- what and how. Post by Paladin on 05/25/05 at 06:15:39 http://www.savage.andruschak.net/Paladin/Avatar1.jpgAvatars, what and how. An Avatar is the earthly incarnation of a God. For computer forums the term avatar means the picture that is associated with a poster -- their incarnation on that forum. You avatar expresses your true inner self; or whatever image of yourself you wish to project. On SuzukiSavage.com your avatar is called your "personalized picture" and may be set by clicking of the "profile" button, above. http://www.savage.andruschak.net/Paladin/Avatar2.jpg and then scrolling down to the section that sets the Avatar: http://www.savage.andruschak.net/Paladin/Avatar3.jpg You can choose from a few stock YABB images, or link to your own custom image. To link, simply check off the I have my own pic: box and type in the URL of the image; such as http://savage.andruschak.net/yourusername_AV.gif. The text placed in the Personal Text: box will appear below your Avatar. Ther YABB forum program will display any external avatar in 65x65 pixels. It WILL distort any picture or any other size. For best display and to keep bandwidth down it is best to create your avatar as a 65x65 pixel .gif. I make avatars for relaxation and will host them (for this forum) on my own site. |
