Title: Savage mods Post by klx650sm2002 on 05/28/05 at 03:21:45 If you've modified your Savage in any way,a different handlebar or the "white spacer" mod, would You post details about it and what You think of the results on "Savage mods" in the Technical Corner. What I'm trying to do is create a reference page for everyone to use. Thanks to all. Clive W :D |

Mee too - I've put most of my mods in separate posts in the tech corner. Yesterday, I put a K&N filter on the bike - not a stock replacement or a little pod, but a BMF from a tuner car - it looks like an overgrown pod - you've seen them in the magazines. I put it where the airbox used to be, using a 2" sweep 90 degree PVC fitting. Outstanding airflow, and I raised the needle up for midrange punch but now I have to jet up again for WOT, since it runs better with the starter/enrichment lever pressed down (this time with the AMAL carb and Screamin' Eagle pipe!) I truly don't know how fast the bike will go anymore. Don't much care, I'll probably never find out. It gets up past 90 real fast, and I have to slow down for traffic (dang DFW). Way too fast for a 350 pound bike with no aerodynamic fairings. Wife went to her grandparents this weekend, and took the camera. I'll shoot pics when the camera comes back. |
Title: Re: Savage mods Post by bobo383 on 05/28/05 at 07:12:40 BTW The BMF K&N R-1380 is 4" long, 5.5" diameter at the big end, and 4.5" diameter at the smaller end. http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=r-1380 |
Title: Re: Savage mods Post by klx650sm2002 on 05/28/05 at 08:03:18 OK Guys I realise this is quite a big ask for some of you, I know Greg's mod sheet goes to 3 sides of A4, but how about a top 5 most recomended if You have the time? Clive W :D |
Title: Re: Savage mods Post by bobo383 on 05/28/05 at 08:10:51 OK, after I get the camera back from the wife, I'll do: 1: Manual petc0ck conversion with a link to what's already there 2: Sportster muff install with a link to what's already there 3: Amal Carb install 4: Tuner car K&N filter install retaining the bike's stock batt box and stock external appearance 5: Harley Davidson tach install on riding mower - Hey, it's a twin. I also have the stock carb off the bike, so I can make a photo documentary of the usual stock carb FAQs. Again, after the wife returns with the digital camera. See, this is why I'm against technology... |
