Title: Some pictures of my beast... Post by Glock_N_Roll on 06/02/05 at 20:01:51 1997 Savage. I bought it a month ago with 12,500 miles on it. I've put 100 miles on it just putting around. The bike already had the idle mixture screw drilled out. So far I have added the risers and drag bar, removed the front fender and sissy bar and raised the seat about an inch. What do you guys think? Check out the sweet oil leak! http://blackheartedhillbilly.com/images/bike1.jpg Notice the new Drag Specialties 4" Risers and Drag Specialties Drag Bar. http://blackheartedhillbilly.com/images/bike2.jpg That is the Jardine Pipe that came with the bike. http://blackheartedhillbilly.com/images/bike3.jpg BE CAREFUL!!! That tailpipe is HOT! http://blackheartedhillbilly.com/images/bike4.jpg |

Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by DavidV on 06/02/05 at 21:11:06 Yo, Reelthing! Whose heatshield are you thinking of? I've got a Screamin' Eagle muffler coming, and I bet the old flared heat shield won't look right. And yes, that's some cool stuff on that bike. Thanks, David |
Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by Paladin on 06/02/05 at 22:19:29 Nice bike, nasty burn. That's why I wear http://www.culturedcowboy.com/boots/tonylama/images/valueline/large/VM2993-detail[1].jpg (http://www.culturedcowboy.com/boots/tonylama/pages/valueline/tlvm2993.htm)A Tony Lama's. Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by gandalph40 on 06/03/05 at 07:35:46 Some of us have gotten the heat shield from JC Whitney...it appears Glock has one installed just in front of the Jardine in the pictures. And, yes, the current flared shield is gonna look funky in front of your new S.E. muff...here's a link to the JC Whitney heat shield... http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-VehicleBrowse/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2006317/showCustom-0/p-2006317/N-200730528+111+1999+600000276/c-10111 |
Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by Savage_Rob on 06/03/05 at 07:54:55 Not that it'd help the muffler area but the exhaust wrap really does insulate the header pretty well. I still haven't made up my mind as to whether I like the look though. After I put everything back together, I'll post a pic. |
Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by DavidV on 06/03/05 at 08:16:49 Thanks for the idea. Good old JC Whitney to the rescue. I guess they've improved their offerings a bit since the last time I needed them. I quit doing my own auto work when I moved to the city 12 years ago. |
Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by WD on 06/03/05 at 08:50:32 No JC Whitney still sells cheap knock-offs of quality parts. BUT, in a pinch, you do what you gotta do... -WD |
Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by gandalph40 on 06/03/05 at 08:52:04 They just happen to have a heat shield that fits in this situation and it's inexpensive enough that, if it just lasts a couple of years, I can replace it! Tom |
Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by Reelthing on 06/03/05 at 13:33:28 check out some these - even a couple to cover the muffer - might still burn - but what a cool brand ! http://www.jpcycles.com/catalog/2004MetricCatalog/0060.htm |
Title: Re: Some pictures of my beast... Post by gandalph40 on 06/04/05 at 06:39:32 I LIKE those shields from JP...I may have to get one to go with my soon-to-be Screaming Eagle... (I did note that the little 7" shield is exactly the same as the JC Whitney shield that I bought. So, I have to assume it's the same quality too...) Tom |
