Title: Shifter material Post by vroom1776 on 07/28/05 at 10:14:19 Hey folks, Anyone know if the shift peg on our bikes is aluminum or steel, or stainless steel? Took a look at it myself... not sure... I may have some welding in the future... or bolting... ...considering making a ghetto jockey shifter so I can kill myself in a left turn. thanks, ks |

first i believe it's the cheapest alloy they can find. i tried to do a hand shift/clutch, didn't work out that well. the "throw" was too long. what is a fraction of an inch at the bottom turned out to be about 6 inches at the top. still engineering it. |

I think that about 4 inches of "throw" would be about right... Maybe spring actuated? You'd have to have just the right spring, too... Another problem that occured to me is that if you put it ina comfortable position, e.g. in front of your knee, it is likely to whack the bars on occasion... ks |
