Title: clutch slipping? Post by torque on 08/07/05 at 15:22:43 my clutch seems to be slipping, but it only does it in 4th &5th gear, not in 1st,2nd,or3rd. It happens when im going about 40mph in 4th gear and try to accelerate to 55mph,when you twist the throttle too hard it starts slipping, and you have too back off the throttle until it stops. Is this the clutch slipping or something else? Remember it does not do it in 1st gear which takes the biggest strain. THANKS. |

Title: Re: clutch slipping? Post by babbalou on 08/07/05 at 16:40:04 Sounds like a little more slack in the clutch cable might help which can be adjusted where it goes in at the lever. If it's borderline slippage, a higher load is going to make it slip more, so accelerating in 4th or 5th it's going to slip more than in the lower gears. I like to adjust mine to where it's fully released a little before the lever is all the way out, but not so much that the lever has to hit the handgrip to shift. |

Title: Re: clutch slipping? Post by CHRIS on 08/07/05 at 20:14:01 The way I usally set the clutch on bikes at work is to give youself about an 1/8" of freeplay in the lever. this is what suzuki has recommended for us. |
