A good bike for the inseam challenged (if you can't flat foot a Savage, I'll bet there aren't too many street bikes that you can). A good commuter. A cheap platform for modifications. It isn't: A good touring bike A good interstate bike A comfortable bike for people over 5' 8" A powerful bike You're next throw in your .02 or comment on mine. |

Your are forced to do some modifications and experimentation to make it not backfire, rattle, or give you monkey butt. Your are forced to do some modifications to give it more power, which you quiclky discover you need. You are forced to take off the engine cover to stop the access plug oil leak. All in all it teaches you lots about bikes and gives you conficence that you could do it on bigger more complex bikes. I'm just depressed that I've done all the mods I need, and there seems to be nothing more to wrench on. Now all I can do is ride it, and that is only part of the fun. Clark |

The Savage is relative far more powerful. It is far more powerful than I need. At 5'9" it fits me like a deerskin glove. Seven Savage riders are registered at the IBA as having completed over 1000 miles in 24 hours. I intend to join them. Savage will happily run 65mph all day. (If I want a fat lounge seat and full wind protection I'll drive a cage.) |

I've only had it for a month, and I look forward to the carb tinkering I'll be doing after my 600 mile check up. |
