I checked the Progressive website. They have fork springs but I didn't find a specific application for the Savage. They may have some that would fit. There's a number to call a tech for info on the "company" box.

I'm thinking about "cheapin' out" & seeing if I can fit another spacer in to stiffen the springs a little.

I think I read that you can go with thicker fork oil.  That'd be quicker & cheaper than new springs, if it's enough.

Why don't You try to put more preload on the spring with 1" spacers above the springs?

I changed my fork oil back in early spring...BOY DID IT NEED TO BE CHANGED...and I used 20W Amsoil Fork Oil.  It made a very significant difference in dampening and control effect, and made the whole bike handle and feel better.
The stock forks are not as good as the Ceriani forks of course (those are off my bike and waiting for a new front disc system), but the heavier oil is a good way to improve the steering/handling experience.

I've never changed fork oil before.  I guess I need to figure that one out and do it.

Yes you do.  When I finally got around to doing mine and took the  tubes off, there was almost NO OIL IN IT AT ALL...NOT GOOD.   It took me several times to get it clean inside.

I did it with  some washers that fit...3 washers = 3/8"
