Title: It's a Honda, but I thought I'd ask anyway. + Post by killerb on 09/01/05 at 13:11:54 I have a 1983 Honda CB450. First bike. New rider. Know nothing about bikes. Couldn't repair my way out of a wet paper bag, unless it involved a screwdriver, vice grips or hammer. The issue is that when I ride a distance, say 50-60 miles...right around that time, my right foot just kills me. The vibration is pretty extreme, and after a while, my foot is in enough pain to pull over for a while, and it is numb so I can't tell if I am on the brake or not. WTH? :-/ Thanks for any help you can give me. Any advice? B |

High rpms and keeping your feet planted in one spot is what's hurting you. You could lower the rpms on the highway by substituting a smaller rear sprocket or add highway bars to change the position of your feet. Go with some highway bars...they're cheap and pretty easy to install. They should make all the difference. |

If steady speeds you might condsider highway pegs on a crash bar so you can vary your leg position. Might consider getting another rider's opinion of whether or not your bike has excessive vibrations -- as in something out of balance. Are the vibrations in pace with engine speed or road speed? |

I'd look at how they're mounted & see if there's a way to put a rubber bushing or two there to dampen the vibes. Another tooth on the front sprocket may be another option. 8) |

When I switched out my handlebar grips it made a huge difference in vibration. Changing the position of ur feet would probably help alot too but highway bars arent cheap, unless its a engine guard foorpeg combo. I was thinking going this route but I dont think it would solve my "im too cramped for my bike" problem as much as I would want it to. I do like Savage_Rob's guard tho. It looks awesome and might work for what I need. How much was that rob? |

Try to change the riding position every 15-20 miles. Try to put Your feet on the rear footpegs for couple of minutes. |

The old boots were thin soled and flexible; but real comfortable. The new ones have soles that are thicker and stiffer. So maybe different shoes would help you? |
