Title: hand that feeds
Post by torque on 09/02/05 at 06:57:47

this is off subject, but i just wanted to ask a question, about the people in new orleans, who are shooting at hellicopters and rescuers. why the he!!,would u shoot at somebody trying to help u and bring u food.

I hope the security forces smoke all the those worthless
bastards,u are killing people in a time of need there no differant than terrorists.

my opinion.

They are terrorists.

There's a certain criminal percentage in every city.  Take away the constant police presence and response, and the criminals will start to do whatever they want.  Crack-addict logic doesn't make much sense to anyone else.

The National Guard will set things right soon enough.

Hopefully I won't be confused for a liberal, but I'll start with a story and then a suggestion that might make their behavior somewhat more understandable (not excusable but understandable).

An officer of the law told me about a patrolman who stopped a car on an interstate because it was driving erratically. When he came up to the car he noticed that the back seat was full of firearms and amunition. He asked the driver to step out and away from the car (how he could talk at that point is beyond me). Anyway the guy jumps out more than happy to comply. After they got away from the stopped vehicle the officer asked the driver about the firearms in the back seat. The guy said he knew where the witches were living and since the bible said to kill them, that's what he was headed to Blair to do and would the officer like to come along and help. (This was while the Blair Witch movie was in the theaters and news).

Anyway, I've read statistics on how many people on the streets are truly mentally ill and it's alarming (not just mildly depressed - "but d-d-d-dats all folks" looney tunes crazy). It's impossible to know what is going through the mind of someone shooting guns down there, but they may believe ("know") that they are saving what is left of humanity by killing ????? (?????=whatever they think is in the helicopters). Just a thought before playing the terrorist card or thinking that these people are trying to kill rescue workers. What's left in NO from what I understand are mostly people on the bottom of fortunes wheel, and a lot of them may not be perceiving reality as we do. Let's face it. It would be hard to remain sane under the circumstances they find themselves thrust into and easy to slip into full blown lunancy if you were on wrong side of the edge to begin with.

Again, I'm not trying to excuse their behavior just offering another possible reason for their actions.

Sure there is violence. A crackhead can't get any, an alchoholic can't get a drink. They get desperate, anxious, and then pi**ed off.  Thay vent somewhere.
Just my observations.

Well if they need to "vent" they have no right to gun down innocent bystanders.if  those people are that anxious, and desperate, they should use the bullets in a more aproppriate manner, after all suicide is telling god you cant fire me, i quit.

just a thought.

I have a brother who is an alcoholic and about 6 weeks ago he attempted suicide ... luckily unsuccessfully ... what he needs is the right kinda help ... so do those unfortunate souls in Louisiana and Mississippi ... I hope to God they get it.

There's an element of truth in what you say, but let's remember that not only were idiots shooting at volunteers in helicopters, the national guard troops, or the police, but even in the places of shelter there were people being murdered and women being raped.  That behavior isn't some kind of insane misunderstanding, that is just plain criminal.

Sometimes to the person suffering, in their mind, suicide is the only answer.

I know.  I had a very troubled friend that did the same thing 3 years ago.  I had known him since high school.  Most of the time a really nice friendly guy but sometimes consumned with depression and all that bipolar stuff which caused him to be very drug and alcohol dependent.  One day after losing the job that he'd had for 20+ years (by his own mistake), he quietly took his shot gun out to his garage....

Those types are usually only a danger to themselves.  It's the thugs and gangs in New Orleans that are dangerous to the people, and for them I hope that the soldiers "take them out".

The government is finally sending in troops about 4 days too late. These ignorant assh#les who are robbing and harrasing Emt's and Firemen need to be put down. I'm somewhat partial bein that I'm a volunteer fireman but this is a dam$ shame. These men and women are working umpteen hours at a time for little or no pay to try and recue people & these -you know whats - are to stupid to let them do their job . I say lock and load send a message that this America and we dont live like this or tolerate this type of behavior.

Don't get me wrong.....I'm a gun totin' redneck from Alabama.
If the police aren't there, I'm capable of policing. There is no acceptable answer for the crimes taking place.
Wrong is always wrong.

I have watched or listened to this in most of my spare time all week.  I have to wonder why the Lousiana National guard wasn't in there immediately, in full force.  Where was the Governor?  Certainly not doing anything to improve her chances of re-election, I'd say.  I don't recall seeing her face on TV even once.  To me, that's where the delay started....

Unforutnalty it is the nature of humanity that there will always be scum whos only goal is to take from others. We have to all remember that we cannot judge ourselves on thier cowardly actions

Savage, I to am a Volunteer Firefighter (2nd Lieutenant, Washington Hook and Ladder, Saugerties, NY). I am sure you undertand more than most. know one can force us to run into a burning building, we do it because we know it must be done and it is the right thing to do.

People respond to stress differently, I have a bipolar sister who's first response is anger in any situation, thank god she doesn't own a firearm or I would of been dead a long time age. I'm not defending the idiots who shot at the emergency workers, maybe they didn't know what else to do to get attention. Stress changes the way you look at things. Oh by the way, if somebody took a shot at me I would of dropped him with a 30-06, my choice in a firearm.
