Title: Motorcycle Classics magazine
Post by ricander on 09/02/05 at 11:50:49

I'm the associate editor of Motorcycle Classics, a new magazine, and I'm seeking a photo of a Savage for our November/December issue. I'm wondering if someone in the group might be able to send me a high-resolution (300 dpi is optimal) image of a stock Savage. The shot will accompany a short feature I'm doing about the bike.
To clarify, I'm not involved in advertising in any way, so I'm not selling anything. The image I end up using will be published for free. I'll be happy to send a free copy of the magazine in return for your trouble.
The shot I need is a profile of the left (non-exhaust) side of the bike. In other words, with the front wheel pointed to the left of the photo frame.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me at randerson@motorcycleclassics.com or visit www.motorcycleclassics.com for more info about the magazine.
Thanks

Ric Anderson

There's more, but most have windshields and/or saddlebags and/or aftermarket bars/risers.

Ric,

Whoa.  Completely stock?  No saddlebags, either?

Funny, I have thousands of photos of different bikes with hundreds of the Savage, but almost all of them are from the exhaust side....which is always the favored side, since people like to display their exhaust mods.

Most of my photos are 3072 x 2048 resolution, but unfortunately both our Savages have been changed (mine more than my spouse's).  However, if I can help, let me know.  My website and email are available.

Aw, what the heck.  Any excuse to post a picture, I guess.  Now all that you need is a "before" photo.

Here is a modified Savage from the left side.

You're very kind.  Thanks.  Just trying to figure out what I'll do to it this winter.  I want to do what Lancer has done, but that'll be kinda expensive.  I may grind on the exhaust port as Clive wants me to do.  And I still haven't gotten the springer seat brackets fabricated as I wish.  Hmmm.

Oh yeah, I think the buck horns are gonna be replaced with flat bars too.  They still have a slight bend to them from my spill 5 years ago, anyway  :P

I thought the pics of Dangman's (http://savage.andruschak.net/dangman.html) were some of the nicest stock shots I've seen.
.. particularly #3.  He might have higher res copies available.

I visited the website yesterdayand it looks like "Motorcycle Classics" will be a pretty good magazine so I signed up for the first year.  I really like reading about older bikes and a lot of what I do to my bike now is taken from older bikes.
Good luck with your new venture.

Jon no longer rides a Savage, by the way.  Besides, he didn't modify anything with the exception of adding stickers.  He took off the hardware, left the holes and threw a cover over the fender stuff.

Sorry, but that isn't a "chop job"

Yes, Dad....

The rectifier is under the battery and the ignition module is in the toolbox.  I also removed the rear footpegs and filled the holes in the swingarm.

"J.B.Weld" makes a 2-part mix product that I like a lot.  It comes in tubes, just squeeze some of each out and stir them together and then fill whatever you want.  I sets up in about 20-30 minutes and cures overnight.  It can be filled, drilled, whatever...and is hard like steel.
And it is not expensive.
