I read about one of them several years ago. It was built into the jacket. When the rider became detached from the bike it inflated a large balloon around the upper body and head of the rider. I thought is was rediculous.

This one is built into the top of the tank, about where the speedometer is on the Savage.

hmmm. sounds to me like somthing designed to push you off the back of the bike. Airbags have a large amount of force. I saw, during a training class, an EMT get thrown about 5 feet from a car while working on the driver. The Bag deployed late.

An air bag for a motorcycle rider, Humm does it look like something out of "Sleeper" with Woody Allen?. I'm all confused, no helmet laws but airbags. What's next, roll cages and seat belts? LOL. As long as there is a good hack saw handy I don't care what they put on a bike ;D

It's okay, that airbag will only end up on Goldwings anyway. Now if the 919 gets one, I'll be miffed.

I Googled motorcycle airbag, thinking I might find more info about this. Instead, I found a web site called, appropriately enough, totallyabsurd.com. ::)

Here's their entry on an airbag from, I think, the late 80's.
