Title: I had another bad idea...

...and by "bad" I don't mean bada$$ or anything... I mean could kill me in a sharp turn... but maybe not, with your help...

So, what if I removed the kickstand and interlock switch, and welded a long piece of steel rebar across the front downtube above the pegs?  I figure, at a good length and height, I could still scrape the pegs and NOT hit the rebar in a sharp turn, but then I'd have to place it on the pegs and rebar to park it (in first).

Whaddya all think?

So I went outside and looked at my savage... won't fit on the right hand side due tot he header pipe and/or brake pedal...  could weld it to the underside of the frame, but that would definitely scrape...

As I said, I think this is just a Bad idea...

BAAD IDEA... !!!!!!!!!!!  sounds pretty dangerous. & if you're not careful welding on the frame you can do some damage to the tempering of the steel

I dunno about that but I picked up a surplus .50 cal ammo can, painted it rustoleum hammered black and bolted it to my luggage rack with some neoprene washers between it and the rack.  It makes a pretty good small trunk/toolbox.  It's solid steel, waterproof, and holds tools, first-aid kit, flashlight, etc.  I just thought I'd try it.  I like it.
