Title: Clearcoat and decals Post by clueless on 09/22/05 at 07:05:22 Made some tank decals, put them on and have 3 light coats of clear( rattle can) on. I'm not sure if I should be able to lightly buff the finish or what. I've seen some nice work on here. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim added pic http://www.youdonthaveaclue.com/suzuki/1bike.JPG |

Title: Re: Clearcoat and decals Post by torque on 09/23/05 at 14:56:23 i painted my tank with "rattle can paint"it looked perfect, until i dripped a drop of gas on it,the gas ate through it like it wasnt even there.thats why im redoing my bike. "rattle can paint "has no hardner in it,when i paint mine this time, with the air compresser,im adding hardner to every coat. 8) |

Title: Re: Clearcoat and decals Post by vroom1776 on 09/23/05 at 15:48:37 you can also get acrylic spray paint, which I don't think the gas will eat thru, but it is hard to wwork with. |

Title: Re: Clearcoat and decals Post by slavy on 09/24/05 at 08:40:37 I used PJ1 paint and clear coat from a rattle can and it worked pretty good. Just do not use "clear laquer" , because it will wrinkle the paint under. Use "clear epoxy paint " . Once it is cured, it is pretty good. Couple of times at the gas station I spilled gas on the tank , but i cleaned it fast and there were not visible damages. |
