Title: My lil Shop
Post by cphilip on 10/09/05 at 11:33:16

Sorry I have not been around a lot this summer. Very busy with new things and building my new shop. Will be doing a Savage project this winter so probably will have something to contribute then.

But in the mean time...

Well.... almost finished. At least workable now...

And of course the signs went on today... home of the Esso
B's scooter club (the Cows dig it)

Well.... its a good thing you do cause you would lose "man points" if you did not!

However, it should be noted that you can score additional "man points" by commenting.... "thats not big enough."     ;D

Nice shop...out in the Clemson countryside, right?

If that was mine, I'd have full plumbing and just live there  8)

Yep. Just outside Clemson's Fants grove area. And Plumbing is coming! Just a little wall wash sink I think with an on demand water heater. Right now I just have a frost proof hydrant going in out front. But while I am digging that in I probably will stub one 1/2" line into the building. You could live in this thing. Just need a cot really. be a good "Dog house" LOL. I got wireless coming from the house. Typing from the shop now. And I picked up one of those little Fridge/Freeze/Microwave dorm units for cheap from surplus at the University for 50 bucks. And picked up a 20" Flat screen TV and put in here. Then I stuck one of those omni directional RV TV Antennas on the roof. Don't think you can see these items in the pictures but they just to the left of the Cabinets in the corner. This is just a few feet from the back of the house. And I have a big Propane tank to the house about 25 feet away so I am planning on taping into that for heater in the next month. And just a small window Airconditioner unit will be used for cool air but not worried about that until next Summer. As you can see I did insulate the entire thing, most of it hidden by the wall boards now except the Roof foils bubble stuff).

THAT'S A GOOOOAAAAL on more man points!

Ya know.... I been lookin at them!  ;D

Actualy I am doing all my cleaning outside with Pads and air tools. No blasting so far. But I HAVE been checking out some small cabinets. And in fact am considering a complete seperate building for Paint and prep. But so far I get by with outside work and some work in a couple other small support buildings to this one. But yea.... its all on the list!  :o

Nice lookin shop
love the vintage vespa,
I built a 78 rally 200 a few years ago
just finished up a 65 fuji rabbit
and  just started a new 65 rabbit touring 150 project
been riding scoots for over 10 years now.
Gone thru 3 custom choppers now, but still have a scooter to tool around on. my present rabbit tops out at 61 mph.

Good to see another vintage builder on here Steve! That one bike you see is my Boss's I had in here at the time of the pictures. Its a 76 Sprint V that I redid for him and he recently wrecked it a tad. That other bike is a Moped class Vespa ET2 that I am puttering with to learn some of the stuff of the CVT's. Not so up on the new stuff so I am messing with that one to learn.  I just brought my bikes over this past week (not pictured as they were not there yet). The most recent one is the T5 I did earlier this year and my current project bike is a 61 Allstate. Somewhere on here is the pictures of the T5 when I took it up and won Best Custom with it at the Wiener Microcar Museum this spring. Super fast at the time at 65 mph and about to go into an overhaul and get a 172cc upkit that should push 85 mph! There are a few more of the ones I have built pictured on my site. cphilip.com.

Rabbits are cool breeds. Love to see some of em. You ever go over to the International Scooterist BBS? Some Rabbit folks over there.

Heck Perry! Come on down and hang! Bring NewCastles! :-D

I like that parts cleaning tub. Do you have any trouble disposing of the spent cleaning agents?

Mmmmm ... Newcastles Brown Ale! You have good taste in beer mister! Fell in love with those suds while visiting Scotland back in '89!

Would love to come and hang at your Shop man ... but Newfoundland is a little far from South Carolina ... especially to be Riding this time of the year!

Please send the address (International Scooterist BBS), did find a fujirabbit.com that was helpful during the build but not a whole lot of members. Have not been in awhile i should pop back in and see whats going on.

Guys in the shop dont quite get the scooter bug like me, but they help me out with my little projects anyway.
This next fuji i got ideas to make it a woody, wood side cowls, floorboards, grips etc.

For those of us who live in the city, a shop like that is like the Taj Mahal. Mine's 13' x 25', but for real perspective, check this out. Scroll down to the pix of his 3' x 7' space in Manhattan:
