Post by saabsaviur on 10/26/05 at 08:42:40

ive preped my bike for paint and now debating between colors i thought o gloss blak but its kinda generic but it will match my cars all are black or i was thinking that old school rat rod look but clean and nice flat black, red and white trim/pinstriping i like chrome alot so i would leave the chrome, or i was thinking of a dark dark purple almost black whats your ideas?

what is the average life expectancy of a savage mine is a 96 with 13k on it been pretty meticulsly maintaned, just curius? exept paint is faded, now gone completly

is anyone in arizona im in flagstaff almost to cold here it high altitude 7500ft highest point in arizona

I think the purple. I don't think flat black and chrome go together, and there are lots of gloss black vehicles around.

The red pinstriping would go well with the purple imho as long as you keep them in the same color "family." I'd leave the white off unless it was really really narrow and just an accent to the red.

When bike shopping, my main concern was one that fit me (5' 1" on a good day).  I'd been "trying on" bikes for over two weeks until a dealer pointed out a Boulevard. It was perfect!

Then I started researching the Savages and seeing what was available.  I responded to a post on some website about a bike for sale only to find out that the 1999 Savage listed was sold "... but would you be interested in a 2000?"  Would I?!

It was only when I saw the pictures that I was thrilled to learn it was green and white.  I'm in Spartan country up here (Michigan State University - - Go State!) and that's their school colors.

The final irony:  I was purchasing it from an owner in Ann Arbor.

Long-story-short:  I wouldn't trade the stock green/white of my 2000 Savage for nuttin'.
