Title: OIL leak !!! Post by wholf09 on 10/28/05 at 17:37:28 Hi there i just bought a 2001 savage LS650 and noticed that it had a small oil leak comeing from the hole in the cylinder head desinged to let air throught.I have been reading that it could be the cylinder head nuts but am not sure.In the CLYMER repair manuel it telles me to remove the cylinder head cover .My problem with this is that I am not sure if there is a gasket there ,or just some kind of sealent.Can someone tell me when I remove it will I have to replace a gasket, or if it is sealent what kind of sealent shoud I use?also if anyone knows what else could be leaking please let me know.Thanks for the help Caleb |

Don't be surprised when this post moves to "rubber side down" or disappears. Check out page 2 of this technical section for a full discussion under "oil plug/cap leak" Seal is RTV. Be careful to only torque bolts to 5 inch pounds at most. I fixed mine and no leak now. Clark |

RTV gray hi-temp is what Suzuki uses but there are a few other colors of RTV hi-temp that several other people have used without problems. |
