Title: Can I make my own heat sheild?
Post by Weez on 10/29/05 at 18:38:49

Hey all,

My other post doesnt seem to be working.

i got my bike back today and I need a new heat sheild due to my new muffler.

The extension is about 6 inches so i want a sheild like 8' to cover the weld.

I want to just take a pipe bigger than the extension pipe, cut it and half, have it chromed at a local chroming place and put some clamps on it.

Do y'all think it'll work?

Thanks

Weez

I've seen 8 inch heat shields from Cobra I think - if you can buy one that works or one that's too long and cut it off liable to be far cheaper unless you know some one that will do a chrome plate for you

Spend $20, and save the hassle.  Buy one from J&P cycles.

I made a heat shield to fit KLX's header as it passes the carb. It's aluminium so is easy to form and polishes up nicely.
