Title: RUST PROBLEMS? YOU OWE ME. Post by kangaroo on 12/02/05 at 11:46:51 Put vinegar in a spray bottle and spray the part. Lightly wet sand with vinegar after letting it sit a little while(15minutes or so). Repeat procedure until all rust is gone. |

Title: Re: RUST PROBLEMS? YOU OWE ME. Post by Jim_R on 12/03/05 at 05:17:13 I think u should stick to motorcycle oil unless u like slippery clutches hehe. Oh and I agree with torque on not sanding chrome, it takes off rust as well as the chrome. Takes off blueing and the chrome hehe. If you could only see my poor muffler haha. I heard u could use onions on rusty knives to take the rust off. I wounder if u could use onions on ur bike to get the rust off. Something about the enzymes in onions. |

Title: Re: RUST PROBLEMS? YOU OWE ME. Post by BS37066 on 12/03/05 at 06:40:34 I prefer a mixture of salt, vinegar, and dishwashing detergent for rust removal. Follow with a good rinse and then WD-40 to stop future rusting. The salt pushes the vinegar toward a more acidic state, and the dishwashing detergent helps cut through the oil and grease. The WD-40 displaces the water and stops the rusting. Side note: WD-40 is not a lubricant. Check the can. Not that anyone here suggested it was. :) |
