I've got an 86 savage and love it. However, I'm considering replacing the stock bars with something different. I am interested in knowing what kind of bars are out there and how people like these different bars.  Also it would be nice to know all the parts you would need to purchase for each individual bar switch.

i have superbars from scootworks for $32 if u go with 1 inch bars u wont need anything else

What kind of bars you got?  You have the swept back ones?  I've got the flatter ones.  Maybe that's the only change you need.

My savage has the flatter bars that apparently came on some of the early models. mine's an '88.  They are a really nice shape but not that wide.  kinda sporty and remind of the bars on a vmax, if you've ever seen one of those.

I just can't get into the swept back thing - just doesn't feel like a real motorcycle to me!

I just replaced the pullbacks on my 87 with a set of standard sportster bars which just happen to have a 4" rise. They bolt right on and lok great and the bike feels more stable. You can pick up the Sportster bars on ebay pretty cheap.
