Title: Gas tank cap questions
Post by Steve530 on 01/01/06 at 07:51:27

I have a few of questions about the gas tank cap.

First, I've noticed that the paint is missing around the back edge of the tank filler hole. It looks like it's been scraped off on the rear circumference of the hole. Is this normal?

Second, I noticed some gas seems to have condensed on the outside top of the tank.  Not much, but enough to notice.  Is the seal of the gas cap replaceable?

Last, there is an arrow stamped into the cap.  Does this point toward the front of the bike or the rear?

Thanks,
Steve

First: Maybe scraped off
Second: This is condensed moisture from the air, which contains water vapor
Last: The arrow points to the front.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you think the condensation is just water form the air?  That does make sense, but it seems to be coming from the filler hole.
