Title: bike odo update Post by Guido on 04/09/06 at 07:19:11 Here it is. I went with a different brand than the Sigma, but it installs the same way and was available at my local bicycle shop. Brand and model: Planet Bike Protege 9.0 Features: Current speed, Ride time, Ride distance, Odometer, Average speed, Maximum speed, Temperature, Clock. MPH or KMH. http://bikepics.com/pics/pics/suzuki-savage-05-bikepics-559339.jpg http://bikepics.com/pics/pics/suzuki-savage-05-bikepics-559342.jpg |

Title: Re: bike odo update Post by Roadie on 04/09/06 at 09:24:15 Hello, Looks nice! What kind of sensor does that have to measure speed? How accurate is it? More pics if possible on install. Thanks! - Roadie |

Title: Re: bike odo update Post by Guido on 04/09/06 at 10:32:49 Theres a thread posted on the tech side with really good pictures and instructions. I haven't figured out how to attach the link to this yet so you'll have to look there. sorry. It's listed as " trip meter ideas " you might find answers to other questions you have as well. Title: Re: bike odo update Post by Guido on 04/09/06 at 10:36:52 Oh, one other thing, I had to extend the sender wire, it wasn't long enough to reach where I mounted it. Not too difficult, just cut and splice, solder and re-tape. ;D The magnet came from Radio Shack. Rare Earth magnet. super strong!! |

Title: Re: bike odo update Post by Jim_R on 04/10/06 at 08:00:26 Hmm how much was it? Im going to get the new sigma bc1606l because it has a backlight display. Not too shabby for 29.99 with free shipping. I didnt have to extend the wire for mine but I mounted it to the front tire. I like the temp readout from urs tho. I might have to check it out. Oh and does it have a backlit display too? That was my main reason of getting this model. At nighttime its impossible to see without one. |

Title: Re: bike odo update Post by Guido on 04/10/06 at 14:46:29 Paid $25 for it. No backlight. Everything else they had was more or didn't register a high enough speed. I really liked this one because of the temp and clock and there are no buttons on the front. To switch settings or reset the trip info( not odo), slide it forward in the cradle. To reset the odo you pop it out and use the buttons on the back. No accidental resets! Took a 30 mile ride yesterday and it was right on mark with the factory speedo. The speed averages feature was pretty cool too.(I'm easily impressed with gadgets). I wear a full face helmet and I can't see the factory speedo unless I tilt my head down. This thing is up where I can see it! Did you mount yours like the one on the tech post? Brake caliper, brake disc?. No matter how I tried, the wire was not long enough. I think it was 33 inches but I needed 36 for the install. Just wondering. |

Title: Re: bike odo update Post by Jim_R on 04/11/06 at 07:17:13 yup I mounted mine the same as the post. I wear a full face helmet too and I was sick of staring down to check my speed. I ordered the new sigma because of the backlight. I dont have any problems with accidental resets. U have to hold the button down for over 5 seconds to reset any trip or sensor info. I also like the larger display on the sigma too, but yours is a great option as well. |

Title: Re: bike odo update Post by Guido on 04/11/06 at 17:54:31 Gee, I wish mine had a backlight though. Even though I don't ride much at night, it would be nice early in the morning! |
