Title: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by jonny chicago on 04/10/06 at 22:36:26 This will be my first bike. I was just curious though if im to big for it. Im about 5'11" and about 185 pounds. Is the savage to small for me? Ive sat on it and felt comfortable. But i havent rode it yet. Dont know if it will feel uncomfortable once im driving? Any input is appreciated Thanks Jon |

Title: Re: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by 911radioman on 04/10/06 at 23:04:03 Most likely not. I'm 6'0" and 190 and it fits me just fine. |

I'm 5'8" and it is fine, but I've felt much more comfortable on other bikes. Most all are considerably more streched out. But I think the position the Savage puts me in is much better for controlled riding. |

Title: Re: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by steelwolf on 04/11/06 at 04:04:35 I'm 5'11" 180 as well and I like the bike fine. It does feel a bit awkward at first but it really isn't bad at all when you ride it a few times and get used to the bike. Other than moving the foward controls a little more forward (personal preference) and doing the super simple seat mod the bike is pretty great staight "otta the box". Ridability speaking. ( making up my own words now ;D ) |

Title: Re: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by Jim_R on 04/11/06 at 07:19:32 I am 5ft 11 and I felt a little cramped, esp in my knee area. We built some forward controls and they extend about 5.5 inches. Now my legs can stretch out and it feels great. I also raised the seat an inch and inserted a gel pack inside the foam. Its smooth riding from here on out. |

Title: Re: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by bentwheel on 04/11/06 at 08:57:33 Jonny, I am the same height as you and 10 lbs lighter. I feel the Savage is a bit small, but you quickly adapt to it. |

Title: Re: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by YonuhAdisi on 04/11/06 at 11:31:56 I am 6 foot and weigh approximately 254 pounds and I haven't had any trouble with it so far. I will be doing the foward controll mod once I get a chance, but other than that everything seems fine for me. |

Title: Re: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by Taz on 04/12/06 at 03:46:12 I'll tell what, my bike is rather new with 900 miles on her already. I like driving this bike so much that I've ordered the large gel pad from JC Whit which is so popular that I'm back ordered until at least May 5th. Anyway I'm 5' 10" maybe 165. This is a 1 person bike in my opinion. It's my personal fun machine... |

Title: Re: Suzuki Savage LS 650 size? Post by cigaro on 04/12/06 at 12:07:11 I'm 6'0 with 32 inch inseam and it's fine with me. In fact, I was out getting an accessory helmet shielf at the Harley Dealer this weekend and, of course, sat on some Harleys. Many of them felt crampy, particularly the Sportsters. No, the $17,000 heritage soft tails and road kings don't. But that's almost over four times what I paid for the Savage. I did sit on a Yamaha V-Star Classic previously that felt very good because the foot posts are moved forward. But only a few more horse than a Savage and quite a bit more expensive. No, the Savage ergos are pretty darned good . Here are some comparisons from a post I made in January, based on a motorcycle magazine comparison: In the January 2006 issue of Motorcyclist, the magazine does a comparison between 2006 models of the Honda VTX1300C and the Harley Davidson FXDI. They compare specific ergonomics -- distance from seat to handlebars, handlebar rise, and most importantly, to me, distance from the seat center to the footpegs. Well, I measured the Savage and found it was quite a bit less cramped than the $12,480 HD! The HD Dyna is 22.7 from seat to pegs. The Savage is 26.5 from seat to pegs. Almost four inches more leg room on a Savage/S40! by my measurements. The Honda is 28.1, a bit more room, yet. All three bikes are about 26 - 26.7 inches from seat center to bars. And the Harley and Savage are nearly identical in bar rise -- 13.3 inches or so. Two inches more than the Honda. |
