i've been enjoying this site since august of '05 and am addicted.
i got my orange 98 then at 16960k and i just checked the odo it's at 21897.
had a great ride to work in some light rain today, as the rain turned to mist the ride home was even better.
my licence road test is scheduled for 5/25/06 and my bride wants to ride with me once it's legal .
How does one make the rear seat comfortable ?

please..., no naysayers....
i seek real advice
for example i could pound out a wider sheet metal seat base but lack the knowledge or know how to attatch the padding and cover to give her sweet end the best cushion it deserves.

Let her ride back there first and see how bad it is. You have to figure it get's used rarely, so the foam is probably like new. If you just think it neads to be wider, I think the one piece replacements on ebay are a little wider in the back. Not sure though. 8)

i have seen some suction cup pillon's that look a little better. it was about 70 bucks at hd/suzuki dealer. i cant recall what tyhety are called

my solution to a more comfortable rear seat, was her own bike! ;D

what she weigh ?? may want to adjst your shocks b 4 she mounts up when my wife and i(both beer drinkers 335 # combined) are double up the saddle bag bracket bottoms out on the belt guard on some bumps..06 s 40 shocks set on 4 , 5 being the stiffest..
have the stock seat and wife has yet to complain........

i set the shocks at what i believe is #4 setting. on the right shock the drift hole is now facing 3/4 ths frontwards and the the left shock the hole is now 3/4th facing rear.
does this sound right ?

If your Savage sprays a little oil out of the head by the exhaust outlet, as most seem to until the cap is replaced, and leaves a splatter on the battery cover/tool housing, then it'll probably also reach your passenger's footwear, as we discovered first time out, two up. It may be only a fine spray of tiny splots but if you wish to avoid a "domestic" over ruined shoes, make her choose her footwear wisely!

scratch that last question, I reset shocks the left shock drift hole is 3/4 toward front and right is 3/4 facing rear, does this sound like #4 or second stiffest setting ?

dont know about the hole postions but i think youre right from the looks of mine..
i lay down and look up the skirt...... :o
counter clock wise from bottom up you can see the
indents the farther ccw you go the higher the bottom spacer thingy goes the stifferr the spring... good luck!!

now i must take a closer look because i thought turning the shocks clockwise stiffened them.
tommorow i will take an extended peek and in the spirit of things will try to get wife to sit on the bike in a skirt simultaneously.
