Title: Paint options Post by SeattleSavage on 05/25/06 at 21:57:14 Might help people to decide on colors. I love photoshop 5 min. to paint my bike five colors http://bikepics.com/pics/2006/05/25/bikepics-595287-800.jpg http://bikepics.com/pics/2006/05/25/bikepics-595288-800.jpg http://bikepics.com/pics/2006/05/25/bikepics-595290-800.jpg http://bikepics.com/pics/2006/05/25/bikepics-595289-800.jpg http://bikepics.com/pics/2006/05/24/suzuki-savage-96-bikepics-594610-800.jpg |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by Veritas on 05/26/06 at 00:22:05 I like the orange as it is, and I am partial to the green too. If you go green, try a color from ford called Electric Lime Green. It's a bit darker and metallic. Very deep finish. I had it on my Mustang and it was awesome. You also see the same color on some '05 Jeep Wranglers. Can't think of the color code right now, but it's worth taking a look at it. It really stands out. |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by PerrydaSavage on 05/26/06 at 01:01:46 I'm liking the orange too ... try photoshopping a copper color? How 'bout flat olive drab (army jeep) for an Old Skool Bobber look? Betcha a gunmetal grey would look cool too! |
|
Title: Re: Paint options Post by Veritas on 05/26/06 at 02:50:02 Maybe a flat BRG (British Racing Green). Mazda also has a Nordic Green color on thier RX-8's that would look cool. It's so dark that in low light, it looks black, but the color jumps out in the sun. Can you tell I'm a fan of green? |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by keith behrnes on 05/26/06 at 06:46:16 if you go with the blue in the frist pic. would you be leaving the grass in the background blue also lol, cool :o |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by Dragon King on 05/26/06 at 07:58:25 I like the blue with the green brakelight ;D I need to see what a puple one looks like |
|
Title: Re: Paint options Post by YonuhAdisi on 05/26/06 at 10:15:10 I definately like the blue, but the green tail/brake light has to go. ;D |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by RadarORiley on 05/26/06 at 11:53:32 My hubby says I look like Darth Vadar when I'm on my bike, black bike, jacket, helmet & boots. He'd probably pay for a new paint job just for the variety ;D |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by vroom1776 on 05/26/06 at 12:19:26 Black is the only acceptable color to paint a bike. ;) I like the blue a lot. Try throwing a red or white racing stripe down the center... or maybe just off center... Yeah, blue and red are the other two acceptable colors, IMO. Hey, it's your bike! |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by bentwheel on 05/26/06 at 12:38:25 I vote for the pumpkin. I'm surprised how much I like the lime green though. :o |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by Brewbrother on 05/26/06 at 15:39:38 What about white or grey?? |
|
Title: Re: Paint options Post by SeattleSavage on 05/26/06 at 16:41:57 Hey mine is yellow and I'm keeping it that way for now. I just did it in photoshop for you all to look at. I like the orange too, and am surprised that I like the green as much as I do. And I'd only go with the blue if I can keep the green brake light. White and black are two good colors too, but I was just changing the hues, thats why you get the purple grass and funky colored brake lights. |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by Trippah on 05/26/06 at 17:34:07 Duuh- that's what I was asking about in my recent post..don't know how I missed your thread. Thanks for the thought about setting it up, as you mentioned in my thread (which probably should be deleted and we'll folow along in this thread.) |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by cstout on 05/26/06 at 18:04:10 I had planned on painting mine orange (about the color of your 2nd pic) but after seeing the lime green I will have to give it some serious thought. I'm an old muscle car fan and the lime green reminds me of an old 'Cuda or something. |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by bikingb on 05/26/06 at 18:43:54 I love the yellow. Did yours come that way or did you paint it yourself or have someone paint it. How much would be reasonable to pay? I really really want a yellow bike. I have a yellow mini cooper to match |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by lancer on 05/26/06 at 21:15:50 My favorite is the purple grass. ;D It kind of brings back those days of long ago when the trees were on fire and the brick walls were all melting. |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by SeattleSavage on 05/27/06 at 09:21:25 No prob Trippah I figured you didn't see the thread. Bikingb- I painted it yellow, I think I made the decision after seeing Kropachek's bike. (another member here) It's funny how much the color of the bike can change it's personality. Cost- If your not looking for a pro job it shouldn't be too bad if you were to take a pre-prepped tank and fenders to an auto body place and just pic a color. And Lancer, the grass is always purpler on the other side. The other side of that little square piece of paper. Kev |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by SeattleSavage on 05/27/06 at 09:49:13 Trippah you wanted to see emerald green with red frame. This was the best I could do without spending too much time on it. I think emerald is darker than this, but here you go. http://bikepics.com/pics/2006/05/27/bikepics-596275-800.jpg Kev |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by Trippah on 05/27/06 at 15:23:58 seattlesavage- many thanks. The local body shop (auto) said $300. for tank and body parts. I didn't think of the frame until (PLEASE FORGIVE ME) drooling over a moto guzzi. actually that V11 is the lime green with red frame..this could get addictive. So, for those of you who know about these things, if I experimented with rattle cans until I found the color combo I liked, how much extra work would that put on the professional paint guys?? Have a great holiday weekend..I am, like most viet nam vets, (and I would suspect desert storm/iraqi freedom vets) ever thankful to be here and feeling a bit of pain for friends who didn't make it. |

Title: Re: Paint options Post by vroom1776 on 05/29/06 at 09:50:43 oh great, now I'm temptd to go but a bunch of different colors of spray paint... Jim, the 2nd to last looks pretty cool. wouldn't want it on my ride, though... Actually thinking of going w/ the royal blue, red racing stripe, and stipping the paint off my pollished aluminum seat... |

So, what do you do to pre-prep the tank and fenders? Do I have to strip the paint or paint them with primer? |
