Anyone had any issues with the shifter sticking when down shifting? I shift down to the next lower gear and the shifter just stays down till I let out on the clutch. Then it will jump back up to where it is supposed to be. Every gear, every time. But only on the down shift.

I thought maybe something was wrong with the linkage for the forward controls but it has just started and the controls have been on a while now. I know the clearance is close but the shift rod is still clearing ok. :-/

Suggest to disconnect the rod from the crank #35 and shift manualy. In the worst case the sping #28 is broken. This can be replaced without removing the engine from the frame.

Check the free play on the clutch cable and make sure the engine oil is at the right level. If they check out then try moving the shifter arm that mounts on the splined shaft clockwise one or two splines. I had to do it after installing my forward controls, couldn't downshift the bike into second half the time. Luck with it

I think I figured it out. I think, hope, maybe. I looked real close while trying to hold in the clutch and work the shifter and see under the bike all at the same time and this is what I came up with. I think that the problem is that the paint is comming off of the mounting rod/shaft/thingy for the left side peg assembly. The hole where the short(er) bolt goes. Best I can figure the shift rod was sliding on the paint and now that it's metal to metal it is causing the rod to hang up. Or at least I hope that's it. It does appear to be touching there now that I was able to get right down there close and look.
