Title: ooops, still hot.
Post by tenpins99ca on 08/03/06 at 12:25:11

I went out for a nice long ride the other day on my LS650, and when I got home it started to rain REALLY hard so I put my bike cover on the Savage, and it melted on the exhaust pipe. Does anyone know of an easy way to remove melted plastic from an exhaust pipe?

thx.

that may be as good as any! - I had one of thin plastic bags blow up under the pipe and instantly weld it self on there about 100 miles from home - finally got it all(most) off with the ride/scrape on it method

My dad had the strap of a backpack melt itself to his pipes.  And boots.  Plastic bag.  Plastic tub.  Helmet strap...he's had more stuff attached to his pipes I think than he's attached to his bike!

I'm with azjay on this one.  Ride it off!

I burnt part of my rain suit to my pipes for the five minutes rain stopped once.  That stuff NEVER came off until my room mate took a buffer to it one night.  It was literally on there for 20k miles!
