I am getting towards the 6000 miles with my 05 s 40.
The 600 mile service was just an oil change and readjusting of the clutch cable and the throttle.
So i feel like the 6000 needs to be a little more thorough.
I want advice on what tasks i should perform and maybe how you perform them

Start by reading the manual's maintenence schedule.

my 06 manual > 600 miles 2months, 4000 miles 12 months(6000km),
7500 miles 24 months, 11,000miles36 months, 14,500miles 48 months..
if you dont have an owners manual i can e mail you maint chart.. :)
