Helo All. my Name is Tim. I just picked up a 95' Savage yesterday and have been obsessed with this sight for the last week when I made the deal on the bike. Lots of great info.

I have a question. I wanted to remove the sissy bar and pillion pad since I'll be the only rider. I removed the sissy bar, but when I took off the pillion pad there is a lot of wires and some sort of electrical circuit thingee (it has slots in it and is about 3" square). What do you guys do with this thing and the wires after you removed your pillion pads. I have tried searching with several different search criteria and can't find any info on it. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give.

You can run the wires under the fender and stuff the thingee,(rectifier), under the solo seat. At least tha's what I did and it seems to work well. john

Ah yes, Rectifier. That's the word I was looking for! ;) Thank you. I'll give that a try and see how it works. I did look at putting it under the solo seat, but it didn't look like there was any room. I'll take another look and see if I can squeeze it in there. Any issues with heat, John?

try to bolt it to metal. It gets hot and the rear fender normally acts as a heat sink. Others, though, have just let it float w/o any ill effects.

If I remember correctly, someone on this site stuck the rectifier in the airbox. I can't remember who it was though.

I bolted mine to the back of the airbox. Between the fender and the box. Of course this requires removing the fender.

The rectifier in the airbox was me. Take off the cheap plastic door, put the side cover back on. Cut the center rib out of the airbox snorkel, insert rectifier. Been that way since 1999. Works fine.

I mounted it on the battery righthand cover plate. Then the chrome dress up cover goes over it and hides it. I've not had a problem with it becoming overheated that I've noticed.
