Title: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by w6k on 01/10/07 at 16:34:39 Is there supposed to be a washer under the main jet?. None was supplied with the dynojet kit but the carborater diagram shows a washer. Is it even important one way or the other? |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by justin_o_guy on 01/11/07 at 01:28:48 If I was guesing I would say it is important to not put one in there. The threads are pretty short as it is. A washer would mean that much less thread engagement. I have no idea how that would affect fuel delivery. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by justin_o_guy on 01/11/07 at 06:06:53 I sit really thin? I just got a couple of jets & seems the threads are only about 1/8th long. I could go look, but it's cold in the garage,, Why is it just about the time I start thinking the things I am planning on doing will be Ohh soo simple, someone posts something that gets me to wondering? |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by KenGLong on 01/11/07 at 08:12:33 It's fairly thick. Looks more like a spacer than a washer. It's the exact same diameter as the head of the jet and is brass. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by vroom1776 on 01/11/07 at 08:36:16 with mikuni jets, you definitely have to have that washer. with DJ jets? I dont know. measure the length diff between the seating part and the noozle on both of the mikuni and DJ jets. that'll be your answer |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by justin_o_guy on 01/11/07 at 21:31:11 What if ya don't have that washer with Mikuni jets? I ask because I have rejetted & I seriously don't remember a washer. If I lost it, what kinda problem would I have? Aww , man I hope I didn't mess this up.. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by geo on 01/11/07 at 22:03:38 I had no washer under the main jet nut when I removed it. There was no washer provided in my DJ kit. Don't confuse this washer talk with the one under the carb needle. Now, there was no washer under my 2002 carb main jet and I doubt there is one under any earlier model jets. Check the carb exploded view in Clymer. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by justin_o_guy on 01/12/07 at 07:59:12 Well, mine runs, runs good, too, just gettin crummy mileage. I wish I could ride it calmly & smoothly for a day just to see how it is on the MPG, but I keep forgetting & goosing it. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by KenGLong on 01/12/07 at 10:02:25 Hmm. Some have a washer and some don't. Assuming the needle would still work either way without falling to the side, this throws another variable into the mix when doing a carb rejet. If the needle still works, then the carb would tend to run richer with no washer under the main jet because the needle would sit higher in the jet allowing more fuel to pass. Does anyone know for sure if the needle will stay in place if the washer were removed from under a Mikuni jet? Would it lift all the way out at full throttle and want to swing out and wedge itself full open? Wow. Ken |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by justin_o_guy on 01/12/07 at 12:01:23 Yikes, that could be inconvenient. Good thing there's a kill switch. Still, that could create a real"pucker" moment. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by KenGLong on 01/12/07 at 12:43:13 I should check before I talk about things I don't know about. The diagram at ronayers.com shows this setup to be upside down from what I thought it was. (I was envisioning the needles and jets in a Rochester Quad.) If anything, removing the washer would make it leaner. Assuming all else the same. I should be more knowledgeable about this in a few days after I completely disassemble, clean and reassemble my carb. Ken |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by Savage_Rob on 01/12/07 at 12:43:23 Probably influenced by the thickness/existence of the white spacer too. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by justin_o_guy on 01/12/07 at 13:37:50 Heck, I've been in there, carb on the bench, stuff scattered all over , do I remember how it looks in there? Noperz. When I was in there I was just trying to focus on not having anything left over when I was done. All I lost while I was in there was some MPG! Found a pretty good bit O Hawlin BUTT! |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by w6k on 01/25/07 at 19:24:28 Boy, my question certainly brought forth some spirited discussion to say the least. Here's the deal on the washer. I e-mailed Dynojet and the guy told me that a washer is necessary with the Dynojet but not necessary with the original jet. The original jet head is larger. The Dynojet head is quite a bit smaller in diameter and can allow the jet to slide up into the carb. The washer prevents that. He also said the thickness of the washer was not important. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by steelwolf on 01/25/07 at 19:43:00 Mine had the washer. I remember because it didn't fall out of the carb until I got ready to put in the new jet. I bumped it with the new jet and out into the grass it went. Luckily I found it. Tip #1: Don't work on the carb in a lawn chair out in the yard no matter how sunny and warm it is. ;) |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by sparkett on 01/26/07 at 04:08:15 Clymers shows it having one part # is 36 in exploded view. and its a #4 washer. without it mine ran really rich, so the gas milage thing could be that. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by justin_o_guy on 01/26/07 at 15:01:19 Oh yea, mechanic work over any "No Floor" location is always an added hazard. The least a fella should do is grab a piece O plywood & use that for a floor. When I am in the garage I try to sweep before I start into anything that might put small pieces on the fllor. The less stuff there is on the floor, the more likely I am to find that little run away piece. Congrats on finding that washer.. |

Title: Re: Dynojet washer yes or no. Post by Reelthing on 01/26/07 at 21:16:47 and the other tip if you have not read it yet - put a shop towel over the starter - it is like a magnet anything small that is drop'd will go in that slot - if i remember correct that is where gary found his jet washer later |
