I know that most of the years are mostly interchangeable, but .... will parts from a 1987 fit on my 1996?

There are a number of differences and there is an entire thread in the Tech Ref forum devoted to changes between the different years. I know there are differences in the electrical system as well as the shift from a 4-speed tranny to a 5-speed.
