Title: Used 2005 S40 Post by Flcruzr on 02/09/07 at 14:28:03 Hello Everyone, I found an 05 s40 with 1500 miles on it at my local dealer and they are asking 3000. Any advise on this deal? I'm looking to purchase a new one but this seemed to be good, but i'm just wanting some advise, should I dish out the new price cost or go for this used one? Thanks |

Use the KBB (http://www.kbb.com/kbb/Motorcycles/Default.aspx) as a rough starting point (you should be able to enter your zip code somewwere). KBB tends to run high, I think. |

Hey, that sounds like a decent deal to me. I suppose that the bike is flawless and near mint? Dealer offer the remainder of any MFG. warranty, or at least some small 60-90 day coverage from the shop themselves? Under certain circumstances, I'd save myself hundreds of dollars for a bike with that low of mileage. At the end of this last summer there was a similar deal show up at one of our local Suzuki dealers, but for $3500. I had to pass on it, as I was looking for a lower entry expense. Plus it had been a woman's bike, and had hundreds of dollars in accessories she had added onto it that I didn't like. |

Title: Re: Used 2005 S40 Post by Ed_L. on 02/10/07 at 18:31:57 Paid more than that for my '02 when I got it in 2004 with 1800 miles on it. Sounds like a good deal, it's just broken in and you won't have to worry about the 600 mile check. Where about in Orlando are you, Bikermom lives over there somewhere and I'm just down the road by Daytona. With Bike week coming up there could be a possible group ride in the future. |

Title: Re: Used 2005 S40 Post by barb36jack31 on 02/11/07 at 04:58:15 Price sounds good to me. I bought an 05 S40 with 700 miles on it last year and paid $3400. I also live in Central FL, just north of Orlando in Lake Mary. Would be interested in meeting other Savage/S40 riders in the area. |

Title: Re: Used 2005 S40 Post by Edgar_Franks on 02/12/07 at 18:40:07 Not a bad deal ,only problem is since it is a dealer you don't know who owned it last ,was it broken in correctly ,oil changed at 1st 500 miles etc....see what the differance is in a new one .if it is a few hundred then go for new .I have bought a 07 brand new the color of my choice at 3800 plus tax ( Crazy Freddies NY ) |

Title: Re: Used 2005 S40 Post by mornhm on 02/13/07 at 05:26:49 Check for local prices in your area. Seems like a decent price. I would assume (without written records) that no maintenance has been done on the MC. If you're not yet your own wrench, maybe you can work some kind of deal into the asking price for catching the MC up to date on its maintenance schedule. Good news however, the maintenance is easy to do and a good once over takes care of everything (you don't have to remove things multiple times). |
