Title: POP!! goes the Savage Post by mavrik on 07/07/07 at 12:55:53 Hello Savages OK we all know Suzi backfires, but today on our group ride she was particularly LOUD. Frequently when I would back off the throttle she would POP, but a couple of times then BANG. You wanna see people duck, some of our guys think their being shot at seriously! I was going over a bridge full of Asian fisherman and yup you guessed it BANG!! They all jumped 6" high So I then filled up with regular and no more backfires Could it be a gas problem? Enquiring minds wanna know? |

Title: Re: POP!! goes the Savage Post by Strafford_Guy on 07/07/07 at 13:21:31 mavrik. I had the same issue today. Not as funny as Asian fisherman though ;D. I filled up with mid grade gas yesterday. Have not ridden till today. Wouldnt you know it. The bike has not back fired since I got it but after getting that gas It has started back firing on me. Well looks like I will go back to the cheap stuff, if you can call it that, and see what happens. |

Title: Re: POP!! goes the Savage Post by mavrik on 07/07/07 at 15:06:38 Funny it was really BAD today then I filled up and it went back to normal. You know, still backfires but sporadically. My riding club hates the noise they are always bitc*ing about it. I think I'm gonna change my muffler and rejet |

Title: Re: POP!! goes the Savage Post by ratdog472 on 07/07/07 at 17:29:54 Well some backfiring is normal for the Savage. If they complain tell em it is just the bike clearing her throat. Everything I have seen is that high octane doesn't agree with the thumper. She's a dirty girl. |

Title: Re: POP!! goes the Savage Post by Strafford_Guy on 07/07/07 at 18:01:24 Thats seems to be true. What octane did you go back to? 87 seems to work the best for me. There are alot of mods that I would like to look into doing but I just picked up the bike a short time ago and I was to run it awhile before I start tinkering. |
