Title: Good Grounding Point Post by mark_k on 09/02/07 at 20:33:10 Question to all the experts out there, I am getting ready to pull the tank and make a couple of mods. First, I am intending to wire in a piezo electric buzzer to the turn signals so I can hear when they are active. Secondly, I have a digital tach that I need to ground. I was wondering if there was a preferred point on the frame or easy access to a ground wire that would not get in the way of tank and seat removal? Ie, don't want to run them under the tank and use the mounting bolts for the tank. What are your thoughts? |

If I had a malfunction though in the buzzer or tach, I wanted to be able to change it or remove it without having to repair or resplice the connection when I put in the replacement. Will try that point, and if I remeber to grab the camera, maybe I can post some pics. Thanks |

Title: Re: Good Grounding Point Post by thumperclone on 09/03/07 at 15:02:54 ground for the tach is for the light?if so use ground inside head lite bucket if for tach portion then closest to where you are pickin up rpm signal..buzzer to a light ground..T type connections...when i de snorkeled it opened up a space to mount aux lighting relay whose coil need a ground, the mounting tab needed a hole so i grounded there under same screw wove wires into existing harness... |

My tach has a light in it and the Manf wired it separate (yes, sort of a waste, two grounds.....) There are five wires coming out of the tach, two for the tiny light, and three for tach (12V, grd & pulse). It's a mini 2" tach for handle bar. The HV coil mount screw was real convenient since I had to tie into the coil for the pulse. |
