Haven't visited in some time and WOW - A lot of changes to the site...very very cool to see the Savage world continues to grow.

So here a the latest mods to the bike...comments welcome as always...

Seat's fine for 50 miles or so in traffic...haven't tested beyond that...

Weird you get the tank pads from? They look like they were made for the Savage tank.

I need those pads for 2 reasons: 1) knees r knockin cuz I'm nervous. 2) when it's cold out, the tank sucks all the heat out of my knockin knees.

Ah, we shop at the same stores.

Have the bar end sig's, but haven't found time to put them on.

Same mirrors, it's nice to see behind you isn't it.

Got the header wrap, but changed my mind about it as it will turn it all blue.

Almost went that way with the seat, but went with a sporty seat instead, because that really looks high. And I want low.

I like the air cleaner, but if I do it, it will be either a hyper charger or the largest diameter that will fit under the seat. Almost car style, big round with low height.

sweet.. only suggestion i would offer is to use a piece of sheet metal to cover the wires under the seat.run if from the mount to the back it will follow the curve and keep the wires underneath safe. i mounted my seat that way, broke the spring toot sweet. i now hard mount the rear and spring the front. the springs set on the sheep metal cover i made. it makes for a much lower seat position.

It looks great, with one personal observation: it has an old school touch and I think some ape hangers would have looked even better.

I too would like to know where to get the knee pads for the tank. My tank is quite a bit wider than stock and when you need to get your knees in as close as possible it would be nice to have some padding there. Do they come in different shapes? Those look great on the stock 650 tank but might look a little odd on a Harley tank.

I got the tank pads at www.jpcycles.com. I think they have a couple of different sizes.

I also don't like my wiring solution (if you can call it that). That is definately the next thing up for a re-work...

I thought long and hard about these bars vs ape-hangers...these just felt better to me, but I clearly see how higher bars would be cool...

Still looking for confidence to switch to springer front end... Anybody done that?

I am actually thinking of going to a springer or possibly a girder front end. A guy from another site I visit has givin me some advice and cons about a springer.

That's why almost all manufacturers pretty well got away from anything but a hydraulic front suspension by the second half of the last century.

That is from a guy called Gryphon from the Anne McCaffrey Fans website who is building is own bike from ground up. He and I have been having some good discussions on what to do with our bikes. He is a hard core American iron fan, but has nothing against Asian bikes.

Beautiful looking bike. Nice mods for sure!

I looked online trying to find those tank pads or something nearly similar....but had no luck.

I like it. I would consider the fork brace. Superbrace is a great looking item, but on this bike, maybe the more angular unit would look better?

Absolutely love the look! Those tank pads are tres cool! Only suggestion I have would be to see if you could get the rear fender to follow the tire more closely ... too much space under there IMO! 8-)

Love the bike!

After-market parts maker/seller EMGO sells those bar blinkers. They have dealers everywhere. There is another harder-to-find small oval kind of bar blinkers that a lot of the guys in Europe run. I've got a set of them but need a couple of spare parts to complete them so I can get them back on 99 #1 (bike in sig-file).
