throaty rumble? that has to be a joke. i really like the savage on the front of my haynes manual (at least i think it haynes) and its on a cd.

Might be an illusion of the background.  If you look at the GIF file attached, the number of spokes look about the same.

From the price it had to be the mid 80's version. They were right at $4000 when reintroduced in the mid 90's. Max

ever ride an early model?  it's a little bit throatier than then new ones... a little, anyway
