Title: Which Progressive shocks Post by keithert on 04/08/08 at 05:32:21 I read here that there are 2 progressive shocks that are a direct fit for the Savage Quote:
I'm not sure which ones to get. I weigh 220 pounds. With the stock shocks I feel every crack in the road. I've tried setting the preload to positions 2 and 4 on the stock shocks. I'm not sure if the soft 4232's or the firmer 4233's would be better. Any thoughts on this? Also on Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse's site I only see a listing for the 4232. |

Title: Re: Which Progressive shocks Post by bill67 on 04/08/08 at 06:22:15 With the 115 155 I have to use 3 position i would think 120 160 would be better for me at 165 pounds then i would be using lower position for single riding, Mine are plenty soft I have the 11 inch travel.I would think if I had the softer one I would be using more preload and doing a lot of polgoing up and down Which I dont'nt think would be good. |

Title: Re: Which Progressive shocks Post by Mr. Hyde on 04/08/08 at 06:45:43 I just posted this yesterday under "Re: rear shocks & spring rate" - I've been all over the forum reading everything I can find about replacing the stock shocks with a pair from Progression Suspension. I've decided on 412-4232c's but out of curiuosity I sent an e-mail to the company and asked them what model I should be ordering and the big metric question. There reponse: "Unfortunately we don’t offer anything for that particular bike. Sorry for the inconvenience". Bill67 said that when he ordered his he got 2 sets of bushing - metric & standard? I hope the 2 sets are included with the shocks as the 4232's are what I will be ordering (5'6", 145 pounds). |

Title: Re: Which Progressive shocks Post by Reelthing on 04/08/08 at 07:16:33 yes the 4232c's will provide you a fine softer ride - very unlikely to ever bottom them out with 145lb rider - set them on the 2nd or 3rd click - they did come with the bushings you need - unless something has changed - seems like you need to reuse the stock washers - if I remember correct on the bushings - they are both metric just thicker walled - you use the thin wall - the 2 in 4232c is the metric designation - say a 4018c has sae sized bushing |
