Title: Black Muffler . Post by Cory on 04/20/08 at 17:58:48 Hey everyone how goes it ? my se muff is doing fine but my neighbor his discolored a bit so we decided to take that se muff of his and get some black 2000 degree heat resistant paint and spray paint it we put about 6 coats on it and we are gonna let it cure for about a week but man that black muffer looks sweet on his bike we put it on long enough to look at it i am considering doing the same to mine . and it only costs us 6 bucks for the paint . I am gonna have some pics up soon when we get it mounted on the bike so you guys can check it out see what ya think it's a cheap and easy way to get rid and prevent any blueing or discoloration. |

Title: Re: Black Muffler . Post by steely on 04/20/08 at 18:44:09 The high temp paint looks good when it is first done. However, it does tend to fade and discolor in under a year. This is based on a a buddy of mines use on the header and mufflers of his '82 CB1000 (red, oxidized quick). There is a powder coating method called Jet-hot that will withstand very high temps with out any discoloration. It would cost about $300 to have an entire exhaust system Jet-coated. Even if you have to repaint your muffler every year, you are still money ahead over 49 years... Post pics! I wanna see! |
